Nothing in common b/w these two countries, except both bordering Russia. No defense against Russian state of art hypersonic MIRV (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle) missiles. And let's not forget their unstoppable nuclear bomb drone submarines constantly circling.
Russia just playing tiddlywinks with Ukraine, dragging war out to achieve their geopolitical objectives, like destruction of western political establishment, inflation, etc.

Another non-event to try and forget ASAP.
By "status quo", they mean unipolar western hegemony.

It's encouraging to see Japan strengthening its security partnerships. While Russia exhausts its resources in a failing conflict against Ukraine and grows increasingly reliant on nations like Iran and North Korea for support, Japan is wisely prioritizing investments in its national defense.

So they share a common enemy.
Guess they will both need cruise missiles of their own and nukes in the case of Japan.
The russian is of so little value that he gets expended in order to cause more inflation?

I know you like China as the only other pole, but they will let you know when you are needed.

@hopespringseternal Ask the families of the over 100,000 Russian soldiers killed since 2023 if Russia is "tiddlywinks with Ukraine". Russia has achieved none of its geopolitical goals. Western powers have grown stronger, NATO has expanded, and inflation is coming down. Putin has failed.

@hopespringseternal Ask the families of the over 100,000 Russian soldiers who have died since 2023 if Russia’s war with Ukraine is "tiddlywinks." Russia has failed to achieve any of its geopolitical objectives. Meanwhile, Western powers have grown stronger, NATO has expanded, and inflation is declining. Putin’s strategy has been a complete failure.

At this meeting, Tokyo could ask Helsinki if they think a certain land they discussed will even be on a map, and if so, what size it's predicted to shrink to. And the current mortality rate and future demographics etc.
It'd be good to know that information and it is an interesting question to ponder, in terms of behind closed doors, do they talk of anything relevant with substance, or is it all a photo-op.
We know they wouldn't share it publicly, but it's an interesting question nonetheless.

They should be asking what can be done to prevent such a barbaric outcome.

Security partnership in this situation is a waste of money. No one threatens Japan. If Japan does not provoke, as Ukraine did towards Russia, no one will attack it. Although with such "friends" as NATO, there is no need in enemies.

There is still time.
But if you don't finish helping Ukraine with weapons, then Ukrainian soldiers and Ukrainian teenagers will soon run out. Start preparing your children yourself. There is no limit to your cynicism. And it's not that Putin has not achieved his goals, but it's about your strategic task - not to let the Russian win. You have already ruined Ukraine. Russia continues to advance. Prepare your soldiers

Gabriel, these phrases have been repeated many times here. The same text. Are you copying them from the same source or instructions? Listen, the Russians liberate new settlements every day. It's new square kilometers every day. Tell us, which villages or towns have been liberated by the Ukrainian military today? Which were yesterday?
