A boycott of all Israeli goods and services would be a good first step

How about putting pressure on Israel to agree to a fair two state solution? -With a viable, safe and secure Palestinian state along side Israel?

Unfortunately the Israelis will never agree to it. May God have mercy on the poor Palestinians.

It's good that Japan is engaging with the palestinian.

I like how the world is ganging up on the one civilized nation of the region.

That has nothing to do especially with Palestinians. It’s just the common cycle there, initiate a conflict within or with neighbors, the stupid West helps financially, takes in infiltrating refugees, rebuilds the whole thing at high costs and when you think everything is fine again, the cycle starts from scratch. You can watch that anywhere, of course Africa, but also, Yemen, Uighurs, Rohingya, Palestinians, or now Afghanistan etc. It’s just easier to squeeze the West again and again than to work, invent, produce and sell on the world market. And admitted, many wouldn’t even really capable of doing that. But hey, multiplying themselves and shooting or bombing around, that’s what they all are capable of. Isn’t that at least something?

Thank you Japan for caring.

Palestine will play out similar to Afghanistan, with BRICS supporting, and nato opposed, so its in Japans best interest to join and support BRICS, or at the very least to hedge both sides.

Its very clear that nato is losing its edge, while BRICS is becoming unstoppable. Already, Taliban has just joined BRICS as will Palestine.

This two-state solution is a no can do, so Japan has to treat China as Kyodai, which will guarantee both success and happiness in the Eastern Hemisphere.

The World needs to stop complaining and suck it up to the new modern Geopolitical inevitability, simply put as sharing the wealth where ESG and Diversity literally means income-equality.

BRICS is an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa

Japan join this mob? You surely cannot be serious. Not in a million years. Any nation who wants to join a bloc with Communist China as the major player, as well as totalitarian Russia in there, is inviting trouble. What a horrible bloc BRICS is.

Just another meaningless pledge.

"...airstrikes on the Palestinian enclave during a tit-for-tat conflict earlier in the year."

Balloons versus high explosive anti-personnel ordnance delivered upon the heads of PRISONERS by American supplied warplanes. Which one is the tit and which the tat? And which the most heavily armed and pathological racist haters and lying murderers in the ME and which the people locked in Concentration Camps behind barbed wire and concrete walls who are murdered and tortured almost daily by homicidal racists and have NO control over any aspect of their lives or resources in THEIR OWN COUNTRY? And historically and maybe a bit TOO 'sensitive'(?) for here, which is the IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY and which is Nanking? Or, more appropriately, which is the Wehrmacht and which is Auschwitz? And even Auschwitz wasn't BOMBED if the prisoners tried to call attention to their torture...with ¿balloons?

And BRICS itself is just a defensive response to the fulminating pathology loose in our World today that brings together Peoples who historically have had little in the way of good relations with each other yet feel threatened enough to put aside all manner of issues between them to try to form a common defense against pure, hyperaggressive global pathology. Goebbels would have LOVED "tit for tat" in such a situation and is an excellent example of how propaganda sneaks into even an alert mind...

Good on an altruistic Japan for recognising the need of a People under the boot heel of evil even as the FM meets with the crime bosses to be almost certainly dressed down for Japan's compassion.

Bad on this writer for either consciously downplaying or not capable of recognising and differentiating premeditated murderer from defenseless victim.

Japan is giving money to this group after they bombed Israelis? Next, the US will be donating money to the Taliban so they can build libraries.

Next, the US will be donating money to the Taliban so they can build libraries.

Not likely. That will be China. The U.S. likes its victims to be as ignorant as possible of their own plight...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

How absurd: bombed with balloons...knowing full well what horror would follow but having no other VOICE...

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

US donating for Taliban libraries? lol Would still be very cheap compared to what really happens now. All affected countries will have to pay bounties to the Taliban for getting their people out there, as people with the head on the shoulders, not in coffins. Otherwise they don’t get through to the Kabul airport. It’s highly probably currently negotiated how much a Western head is valued in cash. Money for libraries, lump sums in comparison. And they all have in fact that one book already at home, so they don’t even need a public library.

USA stopped contributing to UNESCO in 2011, when the Education organization accepted Palestine as a member state, and eventually withdrew completely. So they literally did the opposite of giving books, without even talking about Trump’s ‘peace’ plan including moving the embassy to Jerusalem and accepting all colonies. Cheers to Japan for at least trying, and to all those - many - Israeli citizens who work every day with Palestinian despite the apartheid put in place and the nazi-style retaliations (the 1 to 10+ proportion of deaths in the last 30 years is exactly what Germany did at the Fosse Ardeatine).

I like how the world is ganging up on the one civilized nation of the region.

Civilized? Last time I checked, not even the Taliban were kicking people out of their homes, occupying territory beyond their borders, arresting foreign journalists, and lying about its nuclear program. Basically, causing most of the instability in the region. Israel likes to pretend its civilized, but its just as extremist as any other theocracy out there.

Hats off to Motegi for assisting the Gazans.

It's worth remembering that not all people in Gaza are militants, there are families, elderlies and children who need our help. I would like to hear now from Mr Motegi or someone else in government on how many Afghans we are planning to welcome as refugees. Japan had an embassy in place, that means Japanese companies were doing business there, interpreters were surely employed to assist with everyday operations. It is time to pay back. Japan only accept few applications every year, too few compared to the EU or USA, it must step up to show the world that things can change, even in Abe's backward looking Japan, er sorry, Suga's Japan.

Retreating to Istambul and now mixing in the Near East? Hope the geopolitics are well thought out.

If the enemies of Israel stopped attacking it would be the end of the war.

If Israel stopped defending it would be the end of Israel.

The problem is that high percentages of all aid donated to the Gaza and West Bank enclaves disappears in the pockets of the corrupt leaders of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. Stop throwing good money after bad!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

As long as a terrorist organisation called Hamas is ruling Gaza, diverting aid in to weapons and using the population as a human shield for its continuing attacks on Israel and espousing the rabid mantra that Israel should be eradicated, no reputable government should be “donating” ie funding them.

As to a two state solution, it is the Palestinian leadership of all groups who have stood in the way of peace and opposed all sensible solutions as their aim is the eradication of Israel not the best interests of their people. The two state solution has been a dead duck for decades, killed off by their intransigence and dragged out of its grave to be paraded by external politicians to wave their “concern” to their own electorate.

Well at least Hamas is only espousing eradication. Israel is actively doing it to the Palestinians.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Let’s hope it’s not dollars in suitcases going to Hamas terrorists, who keep attacking the one civilized country in the region, while making ridiculous claims about their land being stolen,

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Rather than do more to try to resolve the issues, it is easier to throw money at the devastated Palestinians. Israel bombs Gaza and the donations are destroyed and need to be made again.

Deal with the Israeli problem and force the institution of the two state solution. If Israel continues to defy UN resolutions then boycott and embargo it until it does. No bloodshed just financial and trade restrictions to knock sense into the hard line right wing Israelis. Deny Israel membership in all world bodies until Palestine is created as a sovereign state and granted membership in these world bodies. Both in or neither in.
