STOP THE WAR MONGERING CCP !!

I want China to stop all war preparations and to stop stealing territory.

Japan can take any measures it deems necessary to defend its interests against any hostile nation.

Good for France for joining the coalition of allies defending the region and the right to Freedom of Navigation. Make no mistake, Commie China is eyeing the Okinawan islands as part of their aggressive expansion. The free world will NEVER stand by and let that happen.

Commie China surely mustnt believe they have a chance going toe-to-toe with the naval fleets of Japan, USA, France, Australia, India, Taiwan, and the UK. Fastest war in history!

Does this site incite violence against China? British warships in Chinese seas is OK? Say anything in support of peaceful China is not ok?

Incite violence against Communist China? Where have you seen anything like this? France, the UK, US, Australia and Japan - and any other freedom-loving democratic nation - has every right to conduct exercises in this region. Its called "Freedom of Navigation of the Seas". Admiral Vandier states this brilliantly-

"This is a message aimed at China. This is a message about multi-lateral partnerships and the freedom of passage."

Does this site incite violence against China?

Not at all, It is reporting the news.

British warships in Chinese seas is OK?

The British warships are not scheduled to enter Chinese waters. They will be in Japanese waters and International waters where they have every right to be. They will not be near Chinese territory.

Say anything in support of peaceful China is not ok?

If China ever does anything peaceful I am sure it will be reported as such. Unfortunately China is often bellicose and confrontational and attempts to bully nations and make false claims to try to manipulate others to do what China wants.

Japan with an aging and declining population will never be a military power and all they will ever be able to do is beg other countries to defend them!!

Sorry, you are very mistaken. Japanese Navy is number 4 in terms of power. Once that awful Constitution is changed and Article 9 is binned, Japan will have a military recognized as "normal" like all other nations ie able to engage in fighting wars outside her territory.

So, yes, Japan has a powerful, super hi-tech military, and is rising all the time.

I have lived in Japan for over 50 years, having first come to Okinawa with the U.S. Army Special Forces in 1967. I know the JSDF very well and I can tell you that like a lot of things in Japan, they look good on paper but that is all. Both Taiwan and South Korea have more combat ready and capable militaries than Japan does and with compulsory military service they both have a large number of the population with military experience which Japan definitely does not and their governments would be a lot more capable during war than Japan . I love Japan but you have to be realistic, does anyone believe that there is any politician in Japan that could be a wartime leader. Could you really see the current Suga Cabinet as being a wartime cabinet? Look at the responses to Fukushima and the many natural disasters over the last few years and imagine how the J-Govt. would respond in time of war. Come on people, be real!

I'm glad you like Japan.

I agree with you, South Korea especially is investing huge amounts of money, getting new capabilities, mandatory military service, Korea is taking it's security seriously, unlike Japan.

South Korea and Taiwan are not restricted by Article 9 which only Japan was forced to sign, no such restrictions for Germany either.

Japan is the only nation to have such restrictions on themselves. Japan did not choose to be like this, was forced after being defeated to sign it, with promises of U.S.A protection.

When China got the Nuke, Japan wanted one as well. What happened? America said NO. We have them, we will protect you.

Then you have no idea what the JSDF is all about today. In 1967 the only purpose of the JSDF was to hold off the USSR for 3 days, Things have changed in the last 53 years. The degree of operational integration with USFJ would make your head spin.

OssanAmerica,

I know a lot more about the JSDF than you do and I know a lot more about war than you do! I was in the jungles of Vietnam for 13 months and went on secret missions in Laos and Cambodia! Have you ever been in combat? Have you ever seen a good friend die 20 feet away from you? Have you ever visited a friend who became a vegetable for life because he stepped on a land mine? You know nothing about war? Always beating the drums of war without having experienced war for yourself! I worked closely with both US Forces and the JSDF on Okinawa for over 40 years before I retired in 2012 and I can tell you that the U.S. Military has no faith in the JSDF or the Japanese Govt. in being able to fight a war!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

@japan4life "I can tell you that the U.S. Military has no faith in the JSDF or the Japanese Govt. in being able to fight a war" But you have the faith and trust of the country to continue to live there and co-exist with a military you don't feel can protect you and a government that can govern you. OK you fought in wars but I can bet at the sound of the first bomb you will have your passport in hand claiming your nationality and leaving a country you have no faith in.

kaimycahl,

I don't know who you are or do I care who you are. I will live in Japan no matter what happens, my Okinawan wife passed away several years ago but my daughter and granddaughters are still here and I already have a tomb here where my wife is interred so I will be here until I die. I earned the right to wear the Green Beret and we don't run no matter what and if Japan is attacked even though I am old I will fight to protect my family with all of the strength that I have left. The JSDF without the U.S. Military cannot defend Japan and never will be able to and that is just the way it is. The JSDF is just like a paper driver who has a drivers license but cannot drive a vehicle.

Chinese territorial waters end 12 nautical miles from their shoreline. Outside the 12 mile limit are international waters and international airspace in which any nation's ships and aircraft are perfectly free to navigate. Moreover, since those man made islands are considered to be man made objects, they have no territorial seas or airspace in association with them, nor do they impart an EEZ. They are legally no different than an oil rig in the ocean.

I never exercised with their land force so I don't know if they are good or not, but the JMSDF is no paper tiger. They are maybe the best ASW navy there is aside from the US. Their ships in particular are better than anything I saw in the Royal Navy and every bit equal to those of the US Navy. Very well trained. They are limited by lack of organic fixed wing air power, soon to be remedied, and too few big multi-product replenishment ships. The PLAN simply dwarfs the JMSDF in size now, heck they have more hulls than the US Navy does, but the quality isn't there.

I am glad some countries are directly calling out China by name. Time for Japan to install defensive weapon systems on these islands while carrying out exercises with friendly countries.

The nations concerned prefer to be arrogant, disregarding how others feel about their ignoble actions.

How incorrigible...
