Good old Nakasone. Whose closeness to Ronald Reagan began Japan's move toward neo-liberal mercantilism, growing inequality and trickle down economics.

How thrilled I am to see my family's tax money being wasted on a celebration for a racist bigot who ran a sex slave camp during the war. Yet another Nippon Kaigai day out for the Yasukuni boys.

The cost of the joint memorial service, which amounts to nearly 200 million yen ($1.9 million), is evenly split between the state and the LDP. The government has faced criticisms that such proceedings are too expensive after it appropriated around 96 million

Not only asking universities and schools in Japan to join that , it also spend significant amount from tax payer money

To say fairly, the spending on funeral services for former PMs are not unusual though I think it is an issue, should be further clarified, discussed to gain approval or reform.

There have been at least 10 cases:

What's worse that the money and profit are flowing into the hands of foreigners, American or Chinese and more. LDP cronies have been cashing out the Japanese economy for the highest foreign bidders since the 1990s asset bubble collapse.

This feels just like the second Bakumatsu period.

Regime worship. Kim Jong Un approves.

There should be a mass boycott of this this unconstitutional rubbish.

Yes.

Telling people who and how they should mourn?

If you have to ask? Then obviously others don't feel the same. Trying to make the irrelevant relevant through a letter (strong arming ) does not bode well for this administration.

This is good. LDP should make university students give a ¥10000 donation to Yasukuni Shrine too.

What did Naksone has achieved during he was the PM of Japan!?

Nakasone once said America was held back by its African-American population's low IQ

Goodlucktoyou...was that sarcasm or not?

Would be helpful if you indicated this.

Memorializing Nakasone is just another shakedown of the taxpayers to fund the glorification of that most reprehensible and arch-reactionary LDP grandee whom the governing elite in their overweening self-regard want us to worship as a "Dear Leader". Most Japanese university teachers will not be amused by this LDP ukaz and many among the general public suffering from lack of funds and anxious about their future in these trying times of corona will say to themselves, "ムカツク"!

This issue symbolizes authoritarianism or arroganceness of Suga government.

Suga government and ruling party LDP intend to use about 100 million yen for second times funeral of Nakasone from 10 trillion yen that was appropriated as Corona virus measure budget.

Suga govt insist "breaking precedent" but they including Kato use "precedent" as excuse about this issue.

I guess they’ll keep tabs on who came and who didn’t. A bit of under the table bribing never hurt anyone.

He died a year ago. What is the point of doing a commemoration this weekend?

What did Naksone has achieved during he was the PM of Japan!?

He was an ultra nationalist and megalomaniac, the architect of the economical bubble which lead to crashing the economy and stagnation until now and poverty for many. Abe was the second worst, Nakasone was the worst PM Japan had after the war.

Tax payer funds to Shinto to Nippon Kaige, it's an excuse to channel funds. It's abhorrent that children have do a minute silence for someone they have no idea about for this to happen.
