Title is misleading: LDP gave 9.55 mil. yen tax money to Unification Church.

was not aware that the organization was affiliated with the church,"?

so either the Ministry didn’t do any research as to who exactly they were giving money to, or it was very much aware it was rewarding political favours?

to contribute to the advancement of women in society? don’t see then doing that in Japan, why are they spending that much money overseas for this? Unless they and the organisation have an understanding.

The government shouldn't be giving any of our money to any NGOs. These organizations, by their very nature, are supposed to be independent of the government, while lacking an accountability mechanism. A recipe for corruption, fraud and influence-pedaling.

 Women's Federation for World Peace,

With a name like that there is no way what he said here is believable.

"was not aware that the organization was affiliated with the church," according to Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

It's also relatively recently that this "donation" was made, and there were a crap load of government paper pusher types involved, with lord knows how many application forms and reports that had to be filed before any money actually changed hands. As anyone who has ever received government funding will know, it takes forever to get anything, almost easier to get blood from a rock.

So there is no way in hell someone somewhere within the ministry didnt know. He's lying!

Allocated public funds to an NGO under whose direction? Abe's legacy continues...

“Your tax money was stolen and misused”

Same as ultraconservative GOP politicians and christian megachurches, and in the opposite way too..

The decision was made because the ministry wanted "to contribute to the advancement of women in society" and "was not aware that the organization was affiliated with the church," according to Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

I call bull shet

"We will cast a wide net to confirm these cases with a stance of having no future relationship with the group," Hayashi said.

This maybe tip of the iceberg.

Influence of cult group who wants Japan's arms race or poverty or even WW3 seems to reach to many influential organization such as ministry or agency or local politics or major media or show business in Japan.

Abe’s assassin certainly opened up a can of worms. He must be feeling rather vindicated

‘contribute to the advancement of women in society’…..not thought about doing that in Japan then?

How easy it is to give our tax money away?

Instead of giving it away, why doesn’t the Japanese government cut the rate of tax on food in Japan?

Is that too difficult?
