The sad thing is that most people love Chinese people they meet. Its their absurd government which rules their people and geographic location with ah iron fist. The communist mantra is always the devil made me to the bad things I had to do. In fact having more and more Asian located nations participating in exercises sends a message to would be aggressors that even nations with small military forces can be part of a much larger combines military force. The way China is going its only a matter of time before more nations come under their threat and the world notices this...

Stuart Hayward,

First, the US is an aggressor; I didn't contend otherwise. Second, the world didn't start in 1945, so history is bigger than that.

Thirdly and more importantly, I contended that you said China is not starting wars - they do. It doesn't matter if you said "not" or "never," the fact is they do, so it's neither "not" nor "never." Yes, war initiation, as links provided. "Not" and "never" are not comparison words - so the US does it too; that still doesn't change that China does do as well, so don't say China doesn't.

(Also, not all wars are unjust, like the Korean War - which China participated too BTW.......... on Kim Il-sung's side.)

Lostrune2: It's comical how you copy & paste only part of my sentence, then respond to it out of context.

I did NOT say they never started a war, I did say: "I don't agree with what the Chinese government & military are doing, but at least they're not starting wars like the US. Like the US, referring to WAR INITIANTION. Fact, since 1945, the US has been the WORLDS most aggressive state by this measure. If you would like to compare the numbers of wars the US has started since 1945, to that of China, you will see who is king of aggression.

No country is perfect, but China is way better than the US overall, it's less fake

LoL. That's why the Chinese keep coming to the US. Where they prosper, attend our universities, buy property and enjoy freedom. How many americans are lining up to permanently live in China? How many chinese families relocate to "italy" for a better life? -None. That's how many-

"America's other allies - such as Singapore, Malaysia, India, Vietnam"

ROTFL. When exactly India and Vietnam became "allies" of the USA ?

India, not yet. But Vietnam definitely is. Which goes to show how far China has pushed Vietnam - that a country that shed hundreds of thousands of blood fighting against the US is now more friendly with the US than China.

Anyway, I meant to say that China doesn't show itself like the universal model for the others, doesn't force its own values like the US do.

To be fair, it's because China doesn't have much to show. What values should they extol? The Great Firewall? Tiananmen? Tibet? State-dominated life? China's great successes regard controlling its people - not exactly values other peoples appreciate would want be extolled on them.

I don't agree with what the Chinese government & military are doing, but at least they're not starting wars

Vietnam would beg to differ - they have been under attack from China:

http://www.southasiaanalysis.org/node/1555

In 1974 the Chinese seized the Paracels from Vietnam, killing more than 70 Vietnamese troops.

In 1988 the two sides clashed in the Spratlys, with Vietnam again coming off worse, losing about 60 sailors.

And lest we forget that India and China still has a decades-old border dispute that's closer to getting hot than being resolved:

YelnatsJUL. 05, 2015 - 03:57PM JST Excellent. Promoting militarism is the way to go. I agree with this completely.

< Just two days ago, you were also promoting Japan to become a dictatorship. Extreme views? Yes! >

Cardsfan5: It's true that most countries have acquired their land and wealth through war, but history also shows that tends to only work on the short term. Great Britan & Rome, just two examples of tremendous militaries who acquired so much, but now have very little, by comparison to their height of power.

I don't agree with what the Chinese government & military are doing, but at least they're not starting wars like the US. Democracies are the most aggressive regime type, measured in terms of war INITIANTION! Since 1945, the US has been the WORLDS most aggressive state by this measure. Joining war games with such a country will not play well in the long run!

Post- republican double- face US also exercises with China so which side they will take when war started remains to be seen.

I love both China and Japan I hope they work together against "some other country" aggression, occupation of Okinawa till this day 70 years after the end of WWII , why ? so who's the bully here having military bases worldwide, sorry but all this "training" will only increase tension another step closer to WWIII, I lived in a warzone and I know the only one who will benefit from this tension ,really if anyone think they can defeat China they're so wrong and forgot that the China has the strongest military ally Russia, I'm pretty sure the admin here is NOT Japanese, because alot of my Japanese friends visit China each year, same goes for Chinese tourists in Japan, so stop flaming non existing war , and spread love instead, because what you're doing is futile.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Alex80 don't confuse trade and economics with geopolitics. EU is less concerned about China only because its not in their sphere of influence, and they have Russia to be worried about. All of Asia is concerned about China because they are trying to expand their territorial control. And again, that's got nothing to do with Chinese tourists spending loads of money. What's funny about this article is that while China (PRC didn't exist until 3 years after WWII ended) whines incessantly about Japan and WWII, two of it's toughest WWII adversaries the United States and Australia welcome Japanese military participation. Really makes China look foolish, especially when they are the threat to peace in Asia.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Anyone with half neuron can see in which direction China is going. Japan is taking the right side.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

@Strangerland: the US don't lie? They don't hide the things? Really? Anyway, I meant to say that China doesn't show itself like the universal model for the others, doesn't force its own values like the US do. The US use rethoric about democracy, freedom and human rights for their own interests while they commit criminal acts against humanity in all their imperialist wars. China does business and doesn't pretend to be a kind of god that must "protect" the world.

Oh my god, you are so wrong about this. America has it's problems, some of them huge, but if there's one thing that can be said about America, it's that their pretty straightforward and not full of BS. And if there's one thing that can be said about China, it's that they will straight up lie and and keep things hidden, never revealing their hand until they absolutely have to. And I say this as someone who's not a big fan of America, and who has a more positive attitude towards China than most Westerners.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

"...amid China tensions." When has there not been tensions between China and everybody else?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@virgo98: China won EU countries trust over AIIB, while the US continue to lose credibility spying its own allies - see the latest scandal with France - and messing up many countries around the world by imperialist wars and economic sanctions. No country is perfect, but China is way better than the US overall, it's less fake - no convenient and empty rethoric about human rights and freedom - and at least it's not a bankrupt country like the US. This is the Chinese century.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

@virgo98 "This is your stage, Greenpeace"

Oh, no. They serve their American masters rather, than Nature and Environment. Lap dog never bites owner.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Alex No nation believes Chinese propagnada.

At least China does not have any right to destroy the beautiful coral reef which is not even their confirmed territory, turning it into a military base.

I wonder why any environment activist group is not claiming against it? This is your stage, Greenpeace.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

@cardsfan5

We already see that happening with China in the South China Sea, and now we are starting to see the same story unfold in the Indian Ocean as well. America's fault? Laughable.

You may not know that Vietnam and Philippines have done reclamation so far, 29 cases and 8, respectively. You seem to know nothing about Diego Garcia in Indian Ocean, either. Don’t say laughable please on another person's comment.

ROTFL. When exactly India and Vietnam became "allies" of the USA ? What a stupid article !

Nice! What should we expect from the AFP.

And just to be fair, Crazy Joe, the US doesn't need to intimidate it's neighbors anymore, well except for Venezuela, because they've already bullied them into submission. Case in point; Manifest Destiny, The Mexican War of 1846, the Hawaiian Island annexation, United Fruit Company, the whole Cuban debacle, plus the many other overt and covert actions done in the Central and South Americas. And lets not forget all the Native Indians of the Americas who were paved over all in the name of "progress".

2 ( +4 / -2 )

China hacks the world computers for loads of information including military technology, China has a plan to build a large nave, China arrogantly is trying to control the South China Sea, China constantly violates Japanese waters. And as pointed above out ask the Tibetans, Indians, and Uighur's. China is peacful? China seeks self interest and can destroy economies as well as ecology's.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Countries wish to align with the US because the US is democratic country that does not intimidate its neighbors like a 300 pound Gorilla like China.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

The only "threat" China presents is economical.

Tell that to the Tibetans, Indians and Uighurs.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

And I agree with everything you said, Bertie.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

The only "threat" China presents is economical.

The "OMG Look what they are doing on the Spratly's!" brigade are just trying to justify a US military build up in the area.

I agree with Alex80 completely and syzygy.

Since there are only FORTY (40) Japanese military taking part, I find the expansive headline, "Japan joins U.S.-Australia war games amid China tensions" just a little exaggerated.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Fingers can be pointed at both China and Japan for the rise in tensions, but it seems China is definitely pushing more with the island building and the constant anti-Japanese propaganda on their TeeVee sets. I'll leave it to my unknown friend to say how I really feel. I keep sending "friend requests", but he never replies.

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." — Albert Einstein.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

We should ask China if they want to play too: then we can all be friends.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

@Yelnats: because you trust anti- China propaganda. In Europe China bashing in the latest years became always less strong, indeed most of European powers joined the AIIB despite Washinghton being against it. A great victory both for China and the EU.

Yelnats trusts anti-China the propaganda the same way you trust your anti-American rhetoric. Name one country which has reached hegemony without winning a major war/conflict. Bet you can't. We already see that happening with China in the South China Sea, and now we are starting to see the same story unfold in the Indian Ocean as well. America's fault? Laughable.

3 ( +12 / -9 )

My opinion disagrees with you Al.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

China wouldn't be a threat if it didn't have American bases everywhere around its burders. China could build economical and peaceful bounds even with Japan. Australia, Japan and other US allies are under American pressure over China but it's bad for them and world peace.

2 ( +12 / -10 )

Excellent. Promoting militarism is the way to go. I agree with this completely.
