Why do they oppose NHK? Because its programmes are dull and old-fashioned and it is not sufficiently independent of the government? If so then we all agree!

And people wonder why the opposition is so pathetic

The NHK channel iks well known for spreading anti-Japan,pro-China,pro-North Korea view of leftist values. At least at those nationalistic people's perspective!

So the opposition is pathetic because this guy joined a new small opposition party. The lawmakers of the ruling party have been involved in far more scandals that the opposition yet the ruling party is not pathetic. The opposition is suffering from lack of opportunity, those who want to maintain the status quo always come up with the argument that without this or that leader or CEO, a country or company will implode. On the contrary it has been shown not to be true.
I for one don't think the opposition will be any worse than the present ruling party. I don't buy the conception that the democratic party were a failure as the general public has been made to believe.
They where not there long enough to hammer their policies which I think would have changed this country, their problems were compounded by bureaucrats sabotaging rather than helping.
Mister X
While it is a well known fact NHK is not even in the slightest critical regarding anything related to LDP these type of persons are not going to turn the tide.
While I completely dislike LDP I have to disagree, the other parties had their chance and they blew it hence people unfortunately went back voting for LDP.
We simply need stronger and more coherent opposition to overthrow the LDP and get the people to actually care and vote for them during the next elections.

When and What chances had the other parties and how did they blow it. By the way which party(ies) are you referring as the other parties.
Mister X
The Democratic Party of Japan and their minor coalition parties took over from LDP from 2009 until 2012 but failed to carry out most of their ambitious reform promises.
The fact that the government went through three prime ministers in only three years time gives you an idea of how unstable that government really was.
Many Japanese citizens deemed their reign even worse than the previous ones so it was no surprise the Japanese people unfortunately went back to voting for LDP and they did so in great numbers.

We don't need any war against Russia but if Putin really is interested in peace he should hand over these legitimate Japanese Islands being held since the second world war.Afterall Japanese are not holding any territory belongs to other countries.
