Shigeru Ishiba, who as head of a minority government

People living in Japan (citizens or foreigners) really don't need this ^^^ at this time.

It would have been better to have kept Kishida who at least commanded parliamentary majority.

What Japan needs right now is increased wages, as does workers in most democratic nations in order to counter the effects of high inflation.

USA is leading the way in reversing the effects of globalization on workers, reducing tax burden (fiscal measures that will have direct reduction in inflation), and reshoring which will have direct positive effects on wages. Japan ought to accept the leadership and join the club.

Unfortunately, Ishiba's disastrous election results = hostage to minor party = non-functioning government. Japan need strong government to force corporate Japan to reshore.

There is no guarantee he would have held onto it if he'd led the LDP into the election.

Unfortunately, Ishiba's disastrous election results

I think that election was a judgement on the LDP.

The ruling just still thinking still has majority, while in fact they don't anymore.

So need to make compromise for everything, including budget planning.

In a very limited way it is good that the opposition is showing even a little bit of teeth.

Now if only this was done for the benefit of the population...

Apparently yes, but color me skeptic.

I would love to be wrong and that time proves the opposition is more interested in bringing long term benefits for the population as an strategy to get more power, but that would be too good to believe for me.
