The world stands with you Taiwan, against Chinese aggression!

Progressively the world is waking up to the threat posed by the heavily militarised CCP and its aggressive nationalist colonialist agenda.

Stop feeding the beast!

It WAS a mistake recognizing only the PRC and dropping Taiwan as a sovereign country back in '72. The PRC, the same country that sent waves of soldiers and weapons to fight the US in Korea and was supplying weapons to N. Vietnam. Taiwan was ruled by the Chinese Nationalist Party who were our allies in WWII and we turned our backs on them in 72.

Resist the PRC.

Resist the Chicoms.

"So we have to protect Taiwan as a democratic country."

No. The world, starting with the US, needs to recognize Taiwan diplomatically as a fully independent, democratic nation. Having Taiwan in the UN and WHO would make the world better.

Enough already of this "one-China" farce. It is a failure.

Over to you, Biden.

Does anyone think that Chiang Kai-shek’s Republic of China was democratic? For Nixon and Kissinger, it was just to decide from what country the US would benefit most, they dropped the Republic.

"So wake up. We have to wake up, " he said.

Agree, Mr. deputy defense minister! Japan needs to nuke up and have at least 3,000 nuclear warheads.

Does anyone think that Chiang Kai-shek’s Republic of China was democratic?

It wasn't, it was a fascist-lite dictatorship, but I thought we were fighting communism?

Money talks.

Sadly, Japan is still being drugged by its patron to 'protect Taiwan'. The nation remains blur in the US-made illusion.

Yes, time to 'wake up' in the true sense of the words..

We haven't even change article 9 yet.

Japan is being hold back, restrictions, upon restrictions on what weapons we can built, with limited range. No ballistic missiles, no long range capabilities, and Taiwan is farher away then Okinawa.

The necessary changes haven't happened yet. It's all just talk while China is becoming stronger.

Taiwan. Really. The mighty Japanese Empire to the rescue. Rescue of what? As if China will invade Taiwan.

Does anyone think that Chiang Kai-shek’s Republic of China was democratic?

Taiwan today is democratic. What it was 73 years ago is irrelevant.

Time for Tokyojing and Washingjing to re-establish ties with 'ally' Taipei.

No name change so no reason for Beijington to get angry!

Such a move will strengthen the Status Quo and give the ROC-TW universal diplomatic parity with the PROC.

Better still, Chairman Xi JP makes a great Emperor's gambit and shock the world by establishing full diplomatic ties with the ROC in Taiwan paving the way for peace and prosperity and him da-kine winning the da-kine Nobel Peace Prize and Time Mags Statesman of the Century!

Democracy rules. China may change to the extent that Taiwanese may choose to rejoin, but anything short of that is in violation of the United Nations charter on rights of independent nations.

@Thomas Robert Mountcastle

I am not sure what your point is. The ROC is a country located mainly on the island of Taiwan but also on some other neighboring smaller islands. This country is even a 1949 founding member of the UN. If it wasn’t so big and everyone nowadays is trying to make business and profits with ‘China’ or PRC, one should ask themselves if that is a country while ROC or ‘Taiwan’ as normal people call it, is of course a country. The much bigger population and bigger business chances led 1973 to changes in the UN entities and security council, but that alone doesn’t affect the country status of Taiwan, in my opinion.

The Japanese are worried. My J colleagues think that when China takes Taiwan, Okinawa will be next and then eventually Honshu. That is way out there and so out of touch with reality. China has never invaded Japan. China makes a fuss about what they perceive to be theirs - the Senkaku’s and Taiwan - in the same way Japan does with the northern territories. Just because Japan wants take back the islands from Russia doesn’t mean Japan wants to invade Russia. Neither does China.

I have never heard or read anything about China claiming Japan as part of China. The Japanese are worried because they invaded China therefore they think the Chinese could invade Japan. The only thing is the Chinese are not the Japanese.

The Japanese constitution won’t allow Japan to go and defend Taiwan so J politicians clamoring to stop China need to get some skin in the game. The Deputy Defense Minister wants to protect Taiwan but won’t send the SDF and want American and Australians to sacrifice their lives fighting for Taiwan and for Japan? Get outta here! Get some skin in the game then Japan.

Taiwanese independence is crucial for the other non-dictatorships around the Pacific Rim. If China gave up its authoritarian form of government, then Taiwan might be lured back into unity with the mainland. The way things are today, Taiwan would gain absolutely nothing by being taken over by China, and the other countries nearby would take a hit to their economies.

Actions are more than words. Here we like to use strong words, but the deed is done away with. If our minister is serious, then do something and do not just talk. Talk is cheap.

An interesting issue @Laguna 8:55pm to have.

“an issue of extreme importance to Taiwan, was removed. I wonder how much JR is in the picket of the CCP.” -

Hope you can whippet.

As an American I can state that we cannot let Taiwan fall to the Chinese Communist Party. I fully agree that my country needs to recognize Taiwan as an independent country. The full force of the US military must be used to prevent a communist takeover. My government needs to make it perfectly clear to China, that the US will come to the defense of Taiwan in the event of a Chinese attack. The current ambiguity of our potential actions only encourages Chinese aggression. China cannot afford a war with the US which it will lose. China and Russia are bullies, and bullies do not stop until they are given a bloody nose. The same with the Ukraine. NATO needs to make Ukraine a member. Japan would be wise to sharply increase it’s defense spending. Make no mistake about it, Japan could be devastated in a conflict between China and the US. It needs to take the necessary steps now to make itself a viable military force against China. Peace can only be achieved through strength.

It's nice to know that not everyone here on JT kowtows to the Chicoms and their apologist trolls.

"So we have to protect Taiwan as a democratic country."

Japan can't even call Taiwan a country, this seems more like an excuse to increase military spending, and then not doing anything at all about this specific situation.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

China and Russia are bullies, and bullies do not stop until they are given a bloody nose.

China, Russia, and the U.S. are all bullies. That's what strong countries do; they bully weaker countries. Japan did not stop until it was given a bloody nose. You don't think your country is a bully in Iraq and the Middle East?

Your country spent north of $6 trillion on the useless war in Iraq and Afghanistan. People know that most of that fantastic amount of money went into the pockets of the MIC bosses and people in the Senate and Congress.

Make no mistake about it, Japan could be devastated in a conflict between China and the US.

They can simulate war without actually going to war: war games. You can read the Pentagon reports on war with China. It's not going to happen.
