It's not a gaffe, it just referencing for something he doesn't agree.
Asiaman7
Agree. He “stressed during the program that the ideas were ‘science-fiction’ and ‘something that should not happen.’”
Similarly, I thought the 2005 Kazuo Ishiguro novel “Never Let Me Go” was captivating. The movie was exceptional too. Doesn’t mean we can’t use the story to stimulate discussion.

This is actually scarier, that people actually voted for this guy and others of the same ilk!

The head of a Japanese minor opposition party viewed as having extremist views apologized on Sunday for referencing a hypothetical storyline in which women have their uteruses removed after 30 as a way to deal with the country's falling birthrate.
Just yesterday this news outlet was bleating about the 'drastic measures' it will take to get a woman PM. There's zero chance of this happening when people have a mindset like this guy.

Simply an IDIOT.

Again women are free to do whatever they wish with their body and Men should just keep their LONG NOSES out of it.
Fighto!
These are ideas the Taliban - notorious female haters - would be proud of.
Why did this Hyakuta creep even give these perverted and sick views airtime?
Tokyo Guy
He would have a flourishing career in the USA right now, if he's inclined to move there.

Grow a backbone! If you misspoke, correct it. If you've changed your position, explain why. Both are valid, but don't retract comments just because someone disagrees. Own your words, or change them thoughtfully!
travelbangaijin
That is a weird comment as most Japanese women due to work/life balance are more stable after 30 to raise a child properly

The man must seriously lack social skills to even float this as a hypothetical. It's like something you'd do on purpose if you wanted to trigger people.
There is a serious conversation to be had about why we have created a society where women worldwide are giving birth later when it is harder for them to conceive. It is very hard to defend this as a good outcome. Such conversation however should be about the causes of this, which include what have been positive developments for women, not about fantasies of chaining women to tradwife roles or making nonconsensual changes to their bodies.

Hypothetical or not, I don't understand how any of these concepts helps increase childbirth. In fact it seems to me they would all cause a further drop in childbirth.
"Women would not be allowed to go to universities from 18,"
"a law would not allow single women over 25 to ever get married,"
"having their uteruses removed when they are over 30"

The man should step down asap he is an idiot!!
wallace
One of the most serious insults against all women ever.
grund
What an idiot. I wonder how long this party will continue to exist.
shogun36
Moron. Why even say any of this, anywhere? Let alone, Youtube.
Even worse since it's "hypothetical."
Just talk about what you actually do know, Naoki.
Like wasting oxygen or being an idiot.

The only thing he got right was one of the reason there is a falling birth rate. That is, a highly educated female population with a future and a purpose that doesn’t revolve around children compared to the 50s. They don’t need to get married because 1st they are financially independent, and have more access to credit and more job opportunities.2nd have careers ahead of them, 3rd don’t need to get married before 25. 4th with great affordable health care, we have a 99% chance of that single child of reaching adulthood. With all the extra money they do earn, they can spend on better education, better experiences, newer “stuff”. Unfortunately the guys a bit of a Wally and fails to understand the development of a nation, and how that impacts demography.

Hyakuta the clown again. As if he hadn't already proved himself a racist and misogynist in the past enough. Oh, and I'm sure his apology is sincere, too.
iron man
What a mysogynist, did perchance he fail snr high whilst his women classmates trounced their uni chances. and got the I want a baby urge in their early thirties, married or not. I am going to finish there!

Probably he comes from Planet Serpo..... looking for banana.
...Its an anime reference for those who don't know.

"science-fiction" he said is mere excuse.
His remarks are always discrimination or hate speech, not only this time.
But, unfortunately present Japanese society gave seats to his far-right party.
He is also broadcast writer of one TV program, and its commentator is Hitoshi Matsumoto who was equal to lose trial about his sexual assaults article.
