The majority of the world's horse hair for violin bows comes from Mongolia. But I imagine it's probably not their biggest export to Japan. I wonder what is.

No mention of specific exports to Japan at this link but in general:

Mongolia exports mineral products (copper, coal, molybdenum, tin, tungsten, and gold), natural or cultured stones, jewelry, textiles, animal origin products, hides and skins. Mongolia's main exports partner is China (89% of total exports). Others include: Canada and Russia.

Poor Mongolia. It is stuck between Russia and China. They are at their mercy, as almost all meaningful trade will have to go through one those countries.

I am sure that if they developed it, Mongolia could become a major beef exporter to Japan.

Also, Mongolia has to import most of it's oil. This too leads to a lot of dependence upon Russia.

I wonder if this will have much of an impact, as Mongolia is still developing, but has a rather low population. So, really you aren't looking at a huge auto market. Something the size of New Zealand's at best.

Jand, how would Mongolia do anything to/with NK? They don't border, and Mongolia has no force projection to speak of.

NK=North Korea. Mongolia would have no impact in dealing with NK. They have no force projection, nor a large economy that would be able to punish NK with economically.
