Japan pledges support for Libya's nation building (IN EXCHANGE FOR OIL).

Japan you didn't do any of the work. You don't deserve any of the oil.

NetNinja, I agreed. Japan goes anywhere when they smell money. They did not sweat for this.

Oil?!? I'm so naive-- I thought the altruistic Americans and Europeans helped the revolution because they wanted to spread peace and democracy throughout the world. I had no idea it was just so they could grab Africans' oil more easily. Live and learn....

It's interesting. Japan, a country that commits so much energy to creating various forms of hierarchy, you would think that when it comes to a carcass like Libya Japan would know the pecking order.

You have to be part of the take down if you want to feed.

Japan needs to re-pledge to help the people of the Tohoku area of its country...I cant believe anything the J-govt does, but word out in the street is the J-govt will move to Osaka if necessary to avoid Fukushima fallout.... but always wants to window dress with other countries....what a twilight zone.

Japan should just focus on domestic issues, 230% debt is way to high

Everyone wants in on the ground level for the potential contracts and access to oil.

Japan should not support for Libya. It has a too large debts. Libya would be a richer country when oil is sold because oil is money.

Contributions ( charitable aids ) will of course be welcome, a gang of modern version of Vikings is /has been fiercely fighting for sharing the oil & political interests, wouldnot see anything left for J Govt that voiced out empty statements to make the foreign ministry look 'global'

When the party is over, civil wars / terrorist attacks will follow given the mixed background composing a spectrum of fractions within the interim govt in Libya. Better off building the new embassy a fortress like structure to stand subsequent 'after shocks' in this country -- another Afganistan though !

****Japan is not in it for the oil. The're simply trying to help. It is true Japan was planing to build a second "Tokyo" a second capital city.

Infuriating stupidity. Why should Japan use our tax money to pay for the damage caused by Obama´s and Sarkozy´s illegal bombing?

Do they think they get any brownie points for that? Fools!

Shame they haven't finished rebuilding Japan...

And yes, the stench of cheap oil and contracts is overpowering.

No nation gives aid for altruistic reasons. It's almost always a form of corporate welfare to some multi-national corporation. Most of the time it has nothing to do with oil. There's billions upon billions in agricultural business happens everywhere. Super tankers filled with concentrated OJ, tons upon tons of Coffee, Coco beans, and sugar. None of that stuff makes it to the first world without greasing the wheels, and unfortunately it's the tax payer that pays the bill, not corporations.

Japan, no need to be vulturing around Lybia, instead, help the people affected by the tsunami.
