If there is a rebound, it's simply because of the great political naivete of the bulk of the citizens.
The scandals upon scandals piled high on this administration lead by Abe, has seemingly done little to dent their power.
Remarkable.
In any other of the major democracies, such a government with this much mud on it's face would be long gone.
But in Japan - well...it can't be helped - rofc ( c= crying)

Did Abe promise to do something in a shikkari manner? That usually works.

Come on, what did you expect? Its Japan. Abe has the job as long as he wants it.

It comes from Chaï Nah! :)
But seriously. It's very interesting that this sub happens to show up just after the government said it would "review" defence spending.
The Avenger
Abe is like a daruma doll. Japan's roly poly. Kick him over and he flips right up again.

There are so many cool nice people in Japan but none of them want to filthy their hands by becoming political. Only those born into filth can bare it.

An aging population trained to vote LDP plunging into dementure probably has the most to do with these figures.
vanityofvanities
Japanese people know we cannot have a politician of his caliber.
Do the hustle
It’s difficult and somewhat ridiculous to believe these polls. They use a broad spectrum of the public to gain these statistics, but cone ejection time only around 50% of the people will actually vote.

@Zichi
Your local government probably has fewer applications to contend with.Kobe city have yet to get round to it for over 30% of the applicants. It’s a mess and most people I know consider it to be a let down.

Apparently no one in Japan has heard of - or if they heard of it, believes - the phrase “A fish rots from the head down.”

Mr Abe is a true Survivalist, congratulations.

The worst pandemic in over 100 years and Japan came out on Top.
The anti-Japan crowd, the haters was talking about the apocalypse coming, mass deaths, mass infection and the government and Abe failed..... Nope. Didn't happen. Japan succeeded! Fact

Another water-is-wet news flash, eh?

"In any other of the major democracies, such a government with this much mud on it's face would be long gone."
Yer rite.
Other major democracies got rid of Trump's and Boris Johnson's muddy Governments.
Poor Japanese indeed.
BertieWooster
Let's realise that it was Abe who got us into this mess in the first place and who is busy building an even bigger mess for anyone who comes after him to try to clean up.

I would ask why you think he's "great" but it's funny - no one who supports Abe can ever give a good explanation as to why.

Haven't you already said pretty much the same thing in other comments?

peeping tom - thanks for your reply.
Re Trump & Boris's govts.
Abe has been in power for nigh on 8 years - 3 terms - and has had direct personal scandals involving $millions of govt money, corrupt bureaucratic practices (bullying, mis-managing, covering up, destroying legal evidence, death...) and pursuit of his own personal agenda at all costs.
If you believe that Trump & Boris could survive similarly 3 terms and be coming up for a 4th election ( yeah - I know US has 2 terms, but hypothetically) and still be the No1 candidate for victory, well then good on your faith.
The machinations of a 60+years reign by the LDP, albeit with a tiny break, is unparalleled in the democratic world.
The swing democracies of most modern countries don't even come within a light year of Japan Incs - read Abe - control , hence the articles re-bound poll favoring the anointed one.
YeahRight
The problem is that the voting system is such that there are very few "district" candidates. The top however number of candidates are elected. No candidate has to directly relate to voters. As long as they make the cut they are in. Very few, if any, candidates, ever get a majority of votes. If they went to a district system where candidates were actually held accountable to their constituents, something might actually change. Though, I can't say that for sure. It hasn't helped much in the US. But still, as long as your in the top 30 out of 31 candidates (like in the local city council "elections" where I live), why should you feel accountable? Do as you will. But if you are that one loser, what a loser you are.
