More BS from the LDP!

24 ( +28 / -4 )

To increase diversity???

Seriously you can't make this stuff up!

25 ( +29 / -4 )

…the presence of the "go-go dancers" were intended to ensure "diversity".

Ha! So ironic. They’re trying to be woke by talking about diversity, but then create a scene that wouldn’t be out of place in the 1970s. Jesus, this is embarrassing.

18 ( +26 / -8 )

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was grilled by lawmakers on Wednesday about a gathering of ruling party members at which scantily clad female dancers were reportedly told to use their mouths to receive cash tips.

This is a tired, and all too prevalent tactic of the corporatocracy.

The LDP is guilty of tax evasion on a massive scale that would get the commoners fined, arrested or destitute.

But some were at a party with sexy ladies in what was basically swimwear!

An old marketing/propaganda tactic from Edward Bernays to use sexual peccadilloes to distract from the endemic theft going on by those in power.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

So, this is where our taxes go?

16 ( +21 / -5 )

One of the organizers, Tetsuya Kawabata, later sought to defend the event by saying that the presence of the "go-go dancers" were intended to ensure "diversity".

Haha, you couldn't make this up. These old cronies in the government just have to go.

20 ( +22 / -2 )

"We invited the dancers after studying from various viewpoints, including whether it matches the theme of diversity," Kawabata, deputy head of the local LDP youth wing

Ohhh, so this is what they mean by trying to increase women's involvement and representation in the halls of power.

Even more embarrassing than the act itself is the pathetic excuse they carted out to try and cover for it. They can't even lie competently. When will Japan draw the the line and ditch this cabal of inept, self-serving political blue-bloods?

I think it's about time Japan's politics were "diversified".

19 ( +20 / -1 )

Glamor Dancers and were obliged to use their mouths to receive banknotes hanging from those of the participants

And nobody thought this might be a bad idea?

23 ( +23 / -0 )

Pitiful.

Riiiiiiight. So that means there were male “dancers” too? Or foreigners? /s

These guys wouldn’t know diversity if it hit them in the face.

Ha! So ironic. They’re trying to be woke by talking about diversity, but then create a scene that wouldn’t be out of place in the 1970s. Jesus, this is embarrassing.

Yea, and later we’ll hear other allegations of some J-version of Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown being another form of “entertainment.”

13 ( +14 / -1 )

""Footage leaked from the event in November organized by a regional chapter of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) showed women in what appeared to be swimsuits dancing and sitting on participants' laps.""

The majority of snack Bars and Private Lounge customers are state and local government employees at least that's what I have witnessed few years back when it was trendy to have a drink after work.

Having fun with dancers or bars staff is not illegal but doing it in an official event or gatherings is bad for all involved.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

LDP troubles just keep piling up, but they will still win the next election.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

One of the organizers, Tetsuya Kawabata, later sought to defend the event by saying that the presence of the "go-go dancers" were intended to ensure "diversity".

"We invited the dancers after studying from various viewpoints, including whether it matches the theme of diversity," Kawabata, deputy head of the local LDP youth wing, told broadcaster ANN.

"However, the excitement that ensued, particularly towards the end of the social gathering, exceeded my expectations," media quoted Kawabata as saying. He reportedly later resigned from the party.

One of the funniest things I've read for quite some time. Once the fuss dies down, he'll be back in the LDP and on his way to a lucrative career in the Diet.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

It's interesting reading the excuses given for things in Japan, once translated into English they seem like the words of a child caught with its hand in the candy jar by a parent.

"The suspect can't remember what happened."

"The suspect didn't feel like talking about it."

"We invited the dancers after studying from various viewpoints, including whether it matches the theme of diversity,"

Sad.

I don't know how he said that with a straight face.

scantily clad female dancers were reportedly told to use their mouths to receive cash tips.

Not only is this gross, but it's a safety risk for girls. I hope they didn't catch anything from these swamp creatures.

Really bad optics.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

Haha, the youth wing? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it? Vote LDP, you get LDP, and I can bet Japan will vote these clowns back into office in the next election.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

I don't know how he said that with a straight face.

He probably didn't. :-)

Has to be the best story on the internet today. Surely. If you were going write a parody article it would work too. Diversity baby! Absolutely brilliant.

LDP The Lapdance Diversity Party. ;p

7 ( +15 / -8 )

Two secs, Kishida wasn’t even there. Bit rough on the PM to make him the target of scorn and ridicule ( and the headline of the article) that’s a bit of a naughty game right there!

Seems everyone plays the dirty game these days!

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Oh my. Japan just doesn't understand WOKE at all. More training needed at the highest level

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Wake me up, before you go go! Take me dancin tonihaaaait!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Maybe the diversity bit was having dancers from different countries, and maybe an ugly one for good measure.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

This is my favorite scandal the LDP has ever had. It’s juicy, doesn’t entail open face public robbery and all kinds of silly. Also the interviews with the guys who got caught are GOLD

”hmm we had cultural dances before so I couldn’t refuse the situation, after all dance is diversity. It could be offensive to reject them”

didn’t know a group of gyaru burlesque dancers were cultural but I approve the logic-

“I don’t recall going to this meeting but I take the situation seriously”

-news guy shows him a picture on his phone of the old guy with a huge grin on his face at the party surrounded by ladies. Looks at the picture wide eyed with nothing to say lmao-

“I regret not controlling the guests at the meeting and rejecting them -when I have the dancer on my lap 10,000 bill mouth to mouth on video- … suddenly starts smiling because he knows that’s an amazing picture to be caught in”

corrupt but… the fun kind . Seriously though the fact that it slipped that they have had dancers at “meetings” before, not drinking parties mind you, and they only now got caught cause someone broke rule 1 of guys night, no cameras,, says alot

10 ( +10 / -0 )

One of the organizers, Tetsuya Kawabata, later sought to defend the event by saying that the presence of the "go-go dancers" were intended to ensure "diversity".

The absurdity of this did actually make me laugh.

"We invited the dancers after studying from various viewpoints, including whether it matches the theme of diversity," Kawabata, deputy head of the local LDP youth wing, told broadcaster ANN.

Of course you did, you total perv.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Ah, Japan. The Land of Culture and Refinement!

But stuffing yen banknotes (¥10,000?) into the "scantily clad females'" mouths sounds like something that - oh, my! - would happen in one of those "underdeveloped" countries.

The least the aspiring young political geniuses of the LDP could do is stuff those banknotes down their brassieres.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

If only they had Cardi B twerking and singing WAP, there would be no controversy, and the “diversity” goals would have been achieved.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Of course it's about diversity, why not? I mean they grill someone about a party he wasn't even present at or knowing about. Such unlogical questioning surely attests quite a level of diversity too. lol

0 ( +1 / -1 )

A few comments to offer in my typical against-the-grain style:

First, what these guys did was wrong. No question.

But they quickly owned up to it, apologized, and resigned.

(If they were Democrats in the U.S., they'd stubbornly refuse to apologize, with the media running cover for them, of course. Case in point: the Democrat Senate aides having gay sex in a Capitol committee room. No apologies, no media scrutiny, nothing.)

So this "grilling" of Kishida over a local (not national) incident, to me, was nothing more than political posturing by the opposition.

I don't think the behavior at the party was their real concern. Only their opportunity to score political points was.

Secondly, Kishida isn't to blame for it. Neither is the LDP on a national level. It was a bunch of immature youth wing guys at a local branch acting like a bunch of immature clowns. And, again, they owned up to it and apologized and resigned.

So, let's stop wasting time "grilling" the prime minister of the country. This would be like "grilling" Biden over some inappropriate behavior by a local Democrat Party outlet in Oshkosh or somewhere.

And let's get back to addressing inflation, the dangerously declining birthrate, supporting working families, care for the elderly ... you know, things that actually impact everyday Japanese people's lives.

And lastly ... anyone who thinks that it's only LDP politicians and members who behave like this is horribly, horribly naive.

If you don't think that members of Japan's other political parties ever behave like this, call me -- I've got a great deal on a bridge in Brooklyn for you.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Hope the foreign media pick this up to highlight how ‘advanced’ Japanese thinking is nowadays.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

"...the "go-go dancers" were intended to ensure "diversity".

From kickbacks to "mouthbacks" the hapless LDP always have a gaslighting "don't-believe-your-lying-eyes" explanation for every scandal, but a "grilled" Kishida just had to fess up that the event "doesn't match the cabinet's goal of diversity".

"However, the excitement that ensued ("Gerrem off!"), particularly towards the end of the social gathering, exceeded my expectations," media quoted Kawabata as saying. He reportedly later resigned from the party.

All's well that ends well then (with a bow and a resignation).

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I wouldn't care if it were a private corporation spending it's own money on titillating shareholders.

BUT...these are public servants and that was my hard earned tax money they just burned.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

"What my cabinet seeks is an inclusive society where all people feel the meaning of life with their dignity and diversity respected,"

Yeah, right, women begging for Yen with their mouths...That's what your Cabinet seeks.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The best way to increase "diversity" in the government is for the electorate to stop voting for LDP candidates. Voters: give others a chance, and keep your eyes on them and hold them accountable. It's that simple.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

But they’ll still win the next general election.

Depressingly.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

I've got to be honest here. I've suddenly gained a lot of respect for Kishida. He brought in strippers. I think I could party with this guy.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

What kind of diversity are they talking about? The diversity in bra size?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

That was the funniest thing I've read in ages. How could Tetsuya Kawabata resign? He clearly has a future in politics. Bonus points for the photo of Kishida with his 'the go go dancers have arrived' grin.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Grilled by opposition MPs on Wednesday about the scandal, Kishida said on Wednesday that the event "doesn't match the cabinet's goal of diversity".

oh, really?

yet…….

two MPs who attended were stepping down from their posts in the Youth Bureau, but will remain party members and lawmakers.

clearly you still condone their “contributions.”

> "What my cabinet seeks is an inclusive society where all people feel the meaning of life with their dignity and diversity respected," local media quoted him as saying.

foo, what you know about the meaning of life, diversity and dignity?

What? Someone bought you a thesaurus 2 minutes before your ignorant statement?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"However, the excitement that ensued, particularly towards the end of the social gathering, exceeded my expectations,"

Too much viagra.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How about a photo of the dancers instead of Kishida?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

ooops…

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Diversity would have meant male dancers as well.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This story really needs a photo so we can better understand the situation better

6 ( +6 / -0 )

That might make a good pick up line:

"Hey darling! How about coming over to my place for a bit of diversity!"

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Diversity? The diversity of different boobs, butts, and.......? Using their mouths to receive 'tips'? Sounds like the 'politicians' wanted to create a certain atmosphere. Our tax money being used effectively and efficiently.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Go-go dancers for diversity!!!???

Kishida questioned over scantily clad dancers at LDP party

What did they ask kishida?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This probably only happens in Japan, politicians resigning over relatively petty things like that

1 ( +2 / -1 )

There is this additional part which is not not in the article which makes it even more hilarious:

«  Throughout this fiscal year, we have been aiming to hold meetings where the theme of diversity is taken seriously, not just in words but also in actions, to ensure that attention is paid to those who are living different lifestyles or working hard in various professions,” said Kawabata in an official statement to the press. “We wanted to create a forum where we could raise questions about whether we are truly attentive to such individuals »

If you check out the “Glamor Girls” website, they seem like a fairly innocuous group of EDM dance performers.

You’d probably see worse at a Madonna or Miley Cyrus concert.

I've never been to any concert where they sat on my lap. Tell me where ya go........... and I'll go with ya! Lol

Sounds like a good party.

It was a bunch of immature youth wing guys at a local branch acting like a bunch of immature clowns. And, again, they owned up to it and apologized and resigned.

These "youth" wing guys are over 40+ years old and pretty much the future of Japan as a member of LDP, that really worries me. I don't understand justifying their acts by saying "these young guys were immature" when they're full grown adults and some are balding and starting to get white hairs. They should know better than using tax-paper's money in their mouth to tip women into their mouth.

They resigned yes, but not as a LDP member, just as a superior of youth wing group.

The interview was also funny, they got asked "did you touch them?" and the "youth" wing guys said "no, I did not" and the interviewer asked "if more evidence leaks out showing that you did touch the girls, will you quit being a politician?" and he replied "it's actually not in my memory if I did touch them."

Dirty old, creepy, men, pretending to be law makers, drooling over scantily dressed young women. Just UGH!!!!.........I mean, what ever next, oh wait, they're going back to rule the country and make laws.

And let's get back to addressing inflation, the dangerously declining birthrate, supporting working families, care for the elderly ... you know, things that actually impact everyday Japanese people's lives.

It would be nice if the LDP could focus on anything other than fund-raising for their election campaigns, which is really pretty much all they've done for the past seventy years.

And lastly ... anyone who thinks that it's only LDP politicians and members who behave like this is horribly, horribly naive.

If you don't think that members of Japan's other political parties ever behave like this, call me -- I've got a great deal on a bridge in Brooklyn for you.

Maybe. Possibly. Got any news articles to back up that assertion though?
