Wow, that was fast... thought it'd be at least a week before he admitted he was incapable of doing the job.

God bless.

You’re too old Suga. Get lost

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Much more all the other things he will need assistance in are the problem, not diplomacy.

You guys serious?

Suga is making a smart move.

Abe is one of the longest serving Prime Ministers in Japan's history. He has traveled close to 100 countries representing Japan, he has personal relationships with Many Leaders not just Trump!

Be honest with yourself, you'll hate Suga no matter what he does just like you did with Abe. Already on that road.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Suga will not need Abe's advice on diplomacy with Trump, but rather a psychotherapist's advice on how to interpret and manipulate him!

If you're not ready to lead, then step aside and let someone else take charge. I don't see other world leaders say they need the former pm or president to help out. Sure, sometimes they do. Obama will give Biden support in all likelihood, but don't SAY that. Step up or step down. Such a major sign of weakness. This Suga fellow is already looking like a sock puppet.

SUGA......if you are NOT up to the task which YOU just ADMITTED you are NOT!!

THEN DO NOT APPLY!!! Drop out NOW!!!!

My god this is embarrassing to witness, it just keeps getting worse here, such a drought of good news the last decade, truly depressing, but due Japanese even care.....I think most dont......

He created the first cardinal sin, by following Trump, just like eating day old sushi, when he will be dealing with Biden

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Then he should step aside and let someone else who can.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

But but, he does 100 sit ups, all he has to do is meet another leader and wow them with a set of crazy crunches. How doesn't love that. Abe don't think so, medical condition and that.

In other words, Botchan still running the show?

"Help from Abe on Diplomacy!!!!!"

That has to be a joke!

The one thing Abe doesn't have a CLUE about is diplomacy. That requires being able to see someone else's point of view.

Diplomacy, out of country, buiss for east asia means being alive.

Well said, OssanAmerica, "We all knew this. Suga can work fine as PM only if Kono is made FM again. And Ishiba DM." But this like saying he needs a popsicle stick taped to a major area to carry out his functions.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

That is a strange thing to say considering Abe is probably the most undiplomatic Prime Minister ever. Just look at the mess he has made with the Koreas.

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

So he is a puppet, always has been continues to function only with a hand motivating him. It's so obviously pathetic. But instead of fighting back the public will charge towards a cliff and willingly dive into the sea. I would be suprised if I was new to Japan, now I have to be restrained, or I'd punch them all in the face 100 sit ups or not.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Gotta laugh or you'll cry at this utter failure of a man.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

We all knew this. Suga can work fine as PM only if Kono is made FM again. And Ishiba DM.

'Japanese prime minister hopeful Yoshihide Suga says that he lacks the kind of diplomatic skills that outgoing leader Shinzo Abe has, including Abe's personal friendship with President Donald Trump, and that he will need his assistance if he assumes the top job.'

That's like asking Jeffrey Epstein to babysit you .children.

There cannot be anyone more diplomatically cognately challenged than Abe, with the ecception of Donald Trump.

Watch Japan go downhill with stupid Suga.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

This should tell the voters here that this guy is useless for the position. Why are these politicians as bright as the night? Yet he is considered a hopeful? He’s going to end up to be a disaster just like Donald Trump has showed his ineptitude in leadership for the USA. I HOPE neither succeeds. We need better leaders than these 2 dingos running the show.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

With deep bows and respect, Japanese prime minister hopeful Yoshihide Suga is on the wrong side pf history.

Suga san is yesterday’s man, whose mandate was frivolously spent kowtowing to Abe san political and economic whims, and vested political interests.

Obsequious, outmoded, tired and politically fatigued.

Yoshihide Suga has nothing to offer other than the status quo.

Yoshihide Suga is /was Abes point man, no more, no less

Diplomacy or foreign relations are now headlined locally by something like

„China must win the support of countries like Japan„

There better be new ideas to narrow the gap between islandish and the rest outlook.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

When your diplomatic approach is based on Abe's "friendship" with Trump?

we are doomed!

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Nice score Abe, tax payer funded golf trips overseas!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

So he isn’t fit for the job.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

I’d like to see a Japanese prime minister under 60 or for that matter a US president under 70 but it is what it is.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I'm useless, but you're going to elect me anyway.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

Unlike silly Pinocchio who was lost without Mastro Geppetto, sock puppet Suga isn't so stupid that he doesn't know he's going to need his oyabun's hidden helping hand.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Don’t have to read the whole article, just read the last sentence.
