PM Ishiba deeds "DOGE" digital audit, as the bureaucrats here have their hands in too many cookie-jars to be sure.
Time for PM Ishiba to re-structure the Govt., voters want Govt. efficiency, and the PRIVATE sector Unleashed NOT the continued Leashing by the Regulatory State.
Ishiba - Listen to Voters and not Unelected Bureaucrats = Democracy NOT Bureaucracy!

.....until after the election no doubt.....

Though present LDP regime didn't consider about financial when they rapidly increasing military budget 2 years before, this time they practically demanded death to patients fighting illness and its families on the excuse of financial.
They pretend to consider financial, but has stealthly reduced corporate tax.
Though they are wasting trillions taxes for unpopular and unnecessary Expo2025 or defective "My Number" system to benefit related corporations with ignoring financial, they tried to reduce medical budget with even exploiting ageism.
Though this government are limitlessly wasting taxes for large corporations, dislike to use taxes for general taxpayers always on the pretext of financial, and victimizing citizen one after another.

We pay enough tax - why isn't it free? At least for chronic conditions....

Healthcare work in Japan's brutal, especially those on front lines like docs and nurses, even with Covid over, why?
Getting hit with too many patients, elderly population exploding, only age group growing, +80 and it's growing FAST, +700K just in last year, while Govt. medical reimbursement system is under dire financial pressure.
Top Doctor friend of mine just moved to UAE, makes many times $ more while working FAR less = HAPPY!
And his son, who just graduated from medical school now is in UAE too = SMART, good genes you might say!

My son was suffering and hospitalized for close to two months and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease—one he will have for the rest of his life. As he ages, his risk of intestinal cancer and the need for surgery will only increase. He’s only 31. The medical bill, as expected, was staggering due to the advanced and innovative therapies he required. However, thanks to the cost-sharing system, it was more manageable for us. Increasing the patient’s share would place an overwhelming burden on the average household. I wouldn’t wish this situation on anyone. Ishiba's haphazard approach to this is appalling and I hope that they will find another way to tackle this problem. He is facing push back from within the LDP so I hope he reconsiders.
@Japan Glimpsed
The PM did. Missed it?

He has. For now. Haphazard is apt.

Billy bonkers. Make your mind up, do you like unelected bureaucrats or not?

There's no indication that that's what the Japanese voters want.

I was recently diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. And I tell you what the treatment is not cheap. Currently chemotherapy plus the hormone therapy I’m going through costs, about ¥80,000 a month, out-of-pocket. Don’t believe I’d be able to afford any more increases.

@Japan Glimpsed:
Indeed. PM Ishiba, unlike Abe, is a pragmatist. He will seek consensus rather than bulldoze over critics. He listens to voices that may not align with his preferences.

Their LDP politics such as neglecting poverty or reducing medical services are clearly violating constitutional right to life.

Always scamming the Weak and Vulnerable. Instead, how about going after the strong and the thieves who are ripping of the government and the general public for a change!??
Seniors are every ones target including governments, just when it is time to relax and retire seniors face two new challenging tasks of fending off Scammers and Diseases.
Hideomi Kuze
PM who insists that victimize patients to maintain system for patients, madness LDP politics.

All Voters Want Effective Govt. delivering something BESIDES Tax Increases & Endless Expensive Regulation
Japan' Govt. needs DOGE, 21st Century Digital Audit = Long Over-Due Re-Structuring to Automate & Streamline "Pork Barrel" Govt., especially Unelected Corrupt Bureaucrats

I had a inguinal hernia surgery that was over 500,000 yen, but, thanks to the limit, I had to pay "only" 110,000 yen. For recovery, I had to stay at home for a month, in my case, hourly paid, had no income, thanks to Shakai Hoken I got 139,000 yen after 2 months. There is no magic, taxes are the source of payment. To get more taxes it is necessary to increase the salaries. Here in Japan, there is a clear shortage of workers, Japan has to prepare to receive more foreign workers and seriously consider the need to become a cosmopolitan country, with diversity of people of different origins. After the Second World War Japan became an example of peaceful country, the spread of the good values of the Japanese culture may be boosted by welcoming foreigners to live and work here, to improve the work force, increase taxes payment to feed the welfare state of Japan.

Thanks for sharing Makoto your clear example of common sense = there's no money game 'magic' after all!

I had a surgery last year here in Japan and a full 10 day hospitalisation during my discharge, I only paid ¥43,000 because Ive got my health insurance(with no my number) and that includes the extras and everything.
enmaai
Your med bills will not be that crazy high if you talk to the hospital about the total expenses and they will help you apply to a high cost medical expense benefit and they will also advice you to go to the koyaksho. Time consuming but its well spent.

Hadn’t realised medical care in Japan was so expensive, I thought it was free. My mistake.
You have my utmost sympathy and wishes of good luck. I recently had a scan that raised a query of a possible secondary from prostrate cancer. Luckily it turned out after investigation and MRI’s there was no cancer and what was originally indicated turned out to be something else and benign. Had me worried though.
Akuma hope you fully recover.
Increasing the tax corporations pay would cover the shortfall and it has been much higher in the past so their is precident.

i’m really sorry to hear that. I think the cure would be a carnivorous diet.
