Kishida is also keen for Japan to have its own nuclear weapons arse anal.
What a hypocrite !
If Japan hadn't been so greedy with its expansion efforts of ASIA and bin so ruthless the atomic bombings wouldn't have happened to Japan
The Japanese colonization of Taiwan was the beginning of the Japanese expansion agenda .
Michael Machida
Keen to. Heh, heh...
TokyoLiving
Nothing in this world justifies having evaporated two cities full of innocent people, women and children..
The atomic bomb was going to be dropped on Berlin but when the war ended, the US needed to test it in a country other than Europe... Japan was the pretext...
Pretending to justify an atomic bombing is the pretext of every war loving loser..
John-San
If the USA hadn't, be so greedy with dominating the world would the bomb ever got made ??????
Yotomaya
It has been completely predictable that the LDP would use Russia as a pretext for militarization.
The US is a nuclear power and has been invading countries all around world, causing immeasurable suffering. But once someone else does exactly the same, it's a geopolitical emergency.
Neither the US nor Japan want peace. The nuclear attacks were atrocious and should be remembered. And so should be the victims of Japan's war crimes. For some reason, Kishida and his boys aren't that keen on the former, making any pretense of respectful remembrance a farce.
shogun36
Wow. That has not happened before. Very innovative Kishida……..
Always going to the usual standards. How about thinking up new ways to promote peace?
Start with opening up the close minded fools in your home country, Kishida. And eliminate utter ignorance?
Alan Bogglesworth
It’s common knowledge and history the development of the bomb didn’t start in the USA. It was defectors from Germany who decided if the Nazis had the bomb first it would be unthinkable. So they defected and helped the USA get there first.

@Tokyoliving
Unfortunately for you your assumptions about me "pretending to justify" are absolutely incorrect !
How dare you insinuate that.
Neither the atrocities of the 30 million the Japanese imperial army needlessly slaughtered cruelly or the unnecessary cruel atomic bombings of Japan that slaughtered a few million - Neither are justifiable.
It appears to me that neither the USA and its allies that approved the atomic bombing and the Japanese imperial army's atrocities were both never fully held accountable
Pukey2
Don't forget, USA was ready to drop a bomb or two on China just a few years after WWII had ended. The whole Pacific has been the imperial west's nuclear backyard. Till this day, some Pacific islanders still can't return to their homes and their parents were used as guinea pigs.
Exactly.
Kyo wa heiwa dayo ne
@Tokyoliving
I meant to say - a few thousand that perished due to the atomic bombings of Japan
Verses the 30 million taken by the Japanese imperial expansion holocaust of Asia.

Using victims for clout Kishida
Kyo wa heiwa dayo ne
@pukey
Your absolutely correct.
And dont forget the french bomb tests in Africa and the Pacific and the Australia bomb tests of the Pacific.
With the war in Ukraine it seems like Japan is chomping at the bit to get involved in war again.

Don't forget to bring Pearl Harbor Survivors
AramaTaihenNoYouDidnt
Generally, people like to bring up your past, when your present and future appears to be better than theirs.

This hawkish PM and his far right group are good at always play the victim’s card in front of the world.
If someone wouldn’t have a basic knowledge of history one might even believe that Japan was the victim of an unjustified attack.
GillislowTier
Why?
even the government doesn’t acknowledge these people properly with medical care and protections against discrimination, but loves to parade them around in a “look what you did were totally the only victims of war” nonsense.
I feel for the actual people affected by this but even an idiot sees through gestures like this when any government does it.
Jonathan Prin
Useless.
Germany does not ask world leaders to discuss with death camp survivors.
Sincerely, death camps were far worse than one single bombing, as a traumatic experience, every torture between humans versus injury only.
The fact that Japan has not signed the UN treaty for nuclear bombs interdiction makes that step by Kishida totally worthless, and even so hypocritical. Japan was the invader, not the victim.
Alan Harrison
Kishida keen to arrange G7 leaders' meeting next year with A-bomb survivors
What exactly is the agenda for the meeting, and what is there to discuss.
Rodney
OK, close all the USA military bases that contain nukes and delivery systems on Japanese soil and demand compensation to the families of Japanese civilians who had the air sucked out of the lungs before fire combustion instantly cremating them. About US$1m each will be enough for closure.
Jim
Exactly! The millions that the Imperial Army tortured, raped and killed mean nothing to the Japanese Government who have always failed to provide a clear apology and always retract or make contradictory statements after making apologies! Shame on them!
Randy Johnson
Fun fact: japan had its own nuclear weapons development program. They even had the shameless audacity to ask the U.S. for cyclotrons, devices that speed up atoms in order to separate isotopes that can then be used for a bomb.
True story.

I visited the A-Bomb museum in Hiroshima many years ago, and even then, I was astounded at how one sided it was. The victim complex was evident even then. Mind you, I enjoyed chatting with a local man (who invited me for a beer) who was a survivor, and he acknowledged that his country had brought the catastrophe upon it's self.
Jonathan Prin
@Thomas Goodtime
I know that, when trying to discuss with my Japanese family. No interest nor time of reflexion to move forward.
I went to Hiroshima museum, and I prayed for the victims out of respect for life.
But remember among those vicitms were people that wished or largely contributed to continue to wage war and destroy USA and allies. Never forget that.
JeffLee
Yes, because Japan and Germany had their own atomic-bomb programs.

The stupidest thing is , in their 60's, 70's, 80's, those ain't really honest toward history and tend to think history of wars invading others had started just from WW2. Totally broken heads around. For them to judge things is just winners/losers of the WW2, meaning Germany/Japan vs. Allies
Alan Harrison
Many cities were bombed during WW2, including Liverpool, UK which hosted last years G7 meeting. There was never seen a need for any meetings with bomb survivors. Liverpool and the world has moved on.
OssanAmerica
As an American I say three things;
One-the use of the A-bombs were a necessity to end the war quickly and send a clear message to the Soviets, and therefore justifed at the time. That does not negate the fact that by every standard we use today, bombing cities with this level of destruction, on a country that had alredy lost the ability to fight and win, was indeed a War Crime.
Two-Some 200,000 civilians were killed in the worst way, in ways unseen before in history. Civilians are victims in any war. Just turn on your TV and watch Ukranian civilians getting killed. The J-govt does not "play victim" with regard to the A-biombings, the two cities do. 93 countries from all over the world have attended the A-Bomb ceremonies. They didn't do that because Japan "was playing the victim card". They attended because as the first use of nuclear weapons in war, and the documented horror and degree of suffering it caused, there is a Global hope that it not be forgotten so that it will never be repeated again. Equating the A-bombings with other bombings or deaths only proves that the message has gone over one's head.
Randy Johnson
Nothing in this world justifies having evaporated two cities full of innocent people, women and children..
Biting on j propaganda, apparently.
The j govt trained people of all ages to fight in the streets if necessary. It's a hard-core brutal fact.
Had that become a reality, FAR more people would have died gruesome, slow and painful deaths.
Unfortunately this factual reality is intentionally ignored by the japanese.
Shame.
Randy Johnson
Let it be said.
The japanese victimhood mentality industry is a thriving business.
Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Japan would br less wealthy without it.
Alan Harrison
Equating the A-bombings with other bombings or deaths only proves that the message has gone over one's head.
Everybody killed in a war dies uniquely, not just A- Bomb victims. As one commentator points out, many were vaporized instantly and suffered no pain, unlike victims of Unit 731. (Which the Japanese government tried to hide from it's population for decades).
englisc aspyrgend
And will he invite the survivors of Unit 731 to meet them as well?
Despite that which is good about modern Japan the relentless spurious claims of victim-hood do tend to get up the nose!
Kyo wa heiwa dayo ne
@BigYen
The bomb tests were done in Australia pacific islands area by the UK and Australia.
Are you trying to deny that Australia had nothing to do with the tests.
Did you think i just imagined it as a fantasy ?
And there is available data if you know where to look.
Perhaps your referring to the affects the aboriginal people's were exposed to that both governments didn't bother to evaluate because they didn't care !
Next you will try and say france didn't do tests in Africa.
Kyo wa heiwa dayo ne
@OssanAmerica
Obviously the A bomb had little effect on the Soviets
Especially considering the Soviets detonated the largest bomb in history .
Then there's the H- bomb.
Jonathan Prin
So sorry to have shocked people.
But truth needs to be said : it serves no purpose to claim some victims of war were more victims than other.
Go and ask any theater of current war victims (Syria, Ukrain, Yemen...).
Japan is playing by lack of education the victim card.
Especially knowing many victims of nuclear bombings were and are despised by their own fellow citizens.
