Desperately wants to take something substantial back home to beef up his falling popularity.

exactly! But meeting the biggest bully on the block is more likely to give you a black eye than build stable relations

Hope Floats. But, does it?

Kishida who criticizes CHINA wants a stable relationship, What a joke!

The truth is that japan's economy is soo dependent on CHINA, that KISHIDA has no choice other than wipe Xi's shoes.

May it be a successful meeting to improve relations between the greats of Asia, without the interference

of US..

Mr. Kishida should listen to this song by Pink Floyd - Keep Talking. It helps me all the times, LOL

There’s a silence surrounding me

I can’t seem to think straight

I’ll sit in the corner

And no one can bother me

I think I should speak now (Why won’t you talk to me?)

I can’t seem to speak now (You never talk to me)

My words won’t come out right (What are you thinking?)

I feel like I’m drowning (What are you feeling?)

I’m feeling weak now (Why won’t you talk to me?)

But I can’t show my weakness (You never talk to me)

I sometimes wonder (What are you thinking?)

Where do we go from here (What are you feeling?)

The key to a stable relationship, with your neighbors, IE, foreign policy, is, be independent. When outsiders are involved, they invariably have their own interests, which may oppose your national interest.

In todays world, no one wants conflict/war, everything, except perhaps, a country's RED line, can be negotiated, if, there is good faith.

So, no big hurdle to jump, just have a independent foreign policy, do not allow yourself to be used/do not allowed yourself to be instigated/have confident in your abilities and keep it within members whos future/where there is cost if things do not work out, IE wars/conflicts.

Two way trade in 2021 was $370 billion. Japan actually enjoyed a trade surplus. Seems kind of important for the livelihood of Japanese people and the health of the economy.

The irony of hoping for a stable relationship from two unstable heads of states.

People who wholeheartedly believe in accelerationism are the most irresponsible revolutionaries and deconstructionists. They are eager to change the status quo, but they have not thought about what kind of path to choose after changing the status quo.

The fact that the right-wing government, non-government, and corporate forces in the United States are so keen to promote neo-accelerationism is one of the results of the inability and lack of effectiveness of the left.

At present, China is relatively stable compared to the United States. The idea of "unlawful and aggressive" proposed by "accelerationism" is actually a conspiracy of the United States.

I miss President Trump because he led the United States to accelerate its development and its economy regressed for decades

Lets leave the cynicism aside for a moment and let Kishida have a go at it shall we? You never know, we maybe pleasantly surprised. Tension release is always a good thing. The war put back a decade or so would be nice. Sort of like my life here in Japan. The entire world is trying to find a way to navigate these very real threats. The Goldilocks zone of holding firm on shared, core values while at the same time offering an olive branch to the Chinese. If they do the same we have a chance. The Great standoff!

Diplomats do your thing!

Truth. Accelerationism is the result of a small mind that gets frustrated with being unable to manage the large-minded thoughts required to solve difficult situations, so they get frustrated and just want to tear it down, instead of trusting in the intelligent people to make it work.

It's because everyone on the internet suddenly became an expert in everything when they got the internet, making them all equals to the experts.

well if you want talk to each other as leader of sovereign country and partner...point is if chinese will feel that from japanese side after tons of antichinese rhetoric aired especially last months from japanese side...

Strangerland, bang on. Accelerationism, I like that. Becoming highly competent in one single area of expertise will be the cure for your well-described internet expert. Unfortunately very few are willing to put in the hours, months and years to get there. Once you realize how many layers of complexity and nuance there are in just one field, you will never fall back to claiming expertise on anything ever again. The great humbler!

Wise is he that knows he does not know.

Kishida, if you truly want a stable relationship with our neighbour China, then stop beating the war drums for the rogue state of the USA.

Stop sanctioning China with forced USA sanctions. I want 5G. And semiconductors.

Huh? There is 5G in the USA.
