Hidankyo needs to focus on their own country and government first before anywhere else. This is a slap in the face....as expected.

Threats from NK and China or Russia ?

Who is the biggest nuke weapon holder ?

None of the above.

I dont see much "deterrence " given the number of "small wars " post WW2 .

I see a new POTUS who says "if we have nuclear weapons why dont we use them "

Beware Denmark, beware.

The minister believes that Japan, which relies on the nuclear deterrence provided by the United States, needs to take a realistic approach to realizing a world free of nuclear weapons, the sources said.

Not meaning anything except not taking any responsibilities.

Please Japan, have the guts to move away from the US for this and clearly push for a world without nuclear weapons. You have been the only country victim of this.

Japanese people have been not only the victim of two nuclear weapons but also a number of events which have led to the release of radioactive particles into the environment endangering this and future generations.

However, the ruling politicians fail to see the dangers of pursuing their probable development.

Is this what the Japanese public wishes for?

Beware Denmark, beware.

Japan is not a nuclear power but has all the technological knowhow to become one.

How long would it take? One month? 6 months?

gauging America’s stance surely ain’t the issue here?

As the leader of a nation that ever suffered from atomic bomb attacks in history, he should go ahead not only with attending the meeting but also working strenuously toward the abolishment of nuclear weapons.

The reason why he can't do this is because he fears the negative reaction of the benevolent uncle Sam, the U.S.A.

Bingo!

Basically, Japan's stance on nuclear weapons proliferation is that all countries (read China & N. Korea) should give up their programs, except America and by proxy, Japan. It's an unfortunate reality for Japan; the hypocrisy is blatant here.

Nuclear weapons and the acronym MAD gives insight into the consequences of their use.

All those pro-nuclear are wise to self educate…
