If he's just going to be a mouth piece for Trump, he's not going to get very far. It's going to be a difficult to negotiate for an orange faced devil who speaks with forked tongue.

Obviously, Abe wants Nobel Prize.

As tensions intensify between Iran and Japan's key ally the United States, Abe has reportedly proposed serving as a go-between and is said to be weighing up a state visit to Iran.

Should be rephrased "Bullying by the United State intensifies."

It is a waste of taxes and time, it is very clear that the U.S wants to go to war with Iran. What does he want Iran to do? Abe was playing golf with the Bully and massaging his ego he could have told the big bully to stop the bullying.

The visit to Tehran is nothing but a PR stunt to show to the world that he is an international statesman.

Lolololololololololoololololololol

Must be the season for fleecing the populace.

All he has to do is attend a few stonnings, promise to buy more oil when he is allowed too. And read his state department prepared notes. Should be able to manage that.

Good on him for trying to mediate peace.

Since the start of Trump's trade war with Iran, gas prices here have gone up about $1 a gallon. Not sure how that does anyone any good, except for Saudi Arabia and the Emirates.

He will try to gain Irans understanding? Not a great track record on that through out his career.

Abe can't mediate his way out of a wet paper bag

Mediation is not "negotiation", although the intent is similar in bringing differing people together to have a meaningful "dialog". The "resolution" of the differences is not the intent nor the purpose. The intent and the purpose is to bring differing parties together to start a "dialog".

Apparently Abe has the confidence of Trump to be able to communicate with Iran which has a very long history of "close" ties with the Japanese people. Today the Japanese are well respected in that region.

So therefore.., why not?

Other routes have not worked so far... There are too many existing obstacles.

Abe should bargain and get Iran to take back all its prisoners in Japan. Otherwise, a waste of time.

Maybe you should have a word with your local oil companies. Oil prices are about where they have been this time of year for the past several years. Not much has changed.

Iran's supreme Ayatollah Khamenei will tells Abe : 'Son! I know the dark side of Donald Trump rather than you does! Go home, this is not your war!'

Japan is an island nation that boasts of its homogeneity and still regards non-Japanese with distrust and suspicion these and many other examples prove Abe has little experience know-how desire to understand other cultures - to expect him to mediate differences between two countries with vastly different cultures none of which Abe has ever experienced is absurd. He doesn't have the chops to mediate.
