Just mention NK military drills, send emergency messages to all Japanese keitais and we will be shaking and not sleeping at night.

if we try to be a weapon smuggling country, we will be a target.

Not every weapons sale is smuggling. You are projecting from your hero Iran.

""Although Japan's new export controls still prevent it from shipping weapons to countries that are at war, it may indirectly benefit Ukraine in its war with Russia as it gives the United States extra capacity to provide military aid to Kyiv.""

Congrats Japan, after nearly 75 years of PEACE, you have rejoined the Military Industrial Complex and set to provide and supply the world with Killing Machines.

Any re-export (of PAC 3 missiles) to third countries would require permission from Tokyo.

That statement is not entirely correct as written. Re-exports of US any military technologies under an existing export agreement absolutely require pre-approval from the US State Department first - then the government of Japan. See US Federal ITAR lay, 22 CFR § 120.51.

Yeah but that's all lies really

Technically the USA is still at war with multiple countries

So there !

Would you care to say which? The US is not at war with any nation. It is fighting a couple of terrorist groups but not at war with any nation.

1) It's not smuggling

2) We're already a target of China, Russia, and North Korea

It's about time Japan played a constructive role fitting of it's position as the third largest economy in helping defend the democratic nations from the autocratic dictatorships. Japan's participation is welcome.

I wonder if many of these systems will find their way onto US bases in Japan?

Kaowaiinekochanknaw,

probably not, most definitely resupplying military hardware to be sent to a place where it is highly needed and well deserved! Guess people know what I'm talking about!

China should sanctions all these companies doing trade in China, warmonger Japan in disguise, their pacifists doctrine were hypocritic

The entire free world should sanctions all Chinese companies, warmonger China in disguise, their "Peaceful Rise" doctrine were hypocritic

Shame on Japan. Those "Patriot" missiles are very likely bound to Israel to murder yet more Palestinian men, women, and many children, and/or Ukraine to murder more hapless soldiers. All for Biden's re-election bid.

LDP regime disregards even deliberation at the Diet, and repeats to violate constitution.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

It's amazing how efficient the Japanese government is these days. The Diet is out of session so without any debate national security doctrine is upturned by the cabinet and the missile systems is off to America lickety-split. It's almost as if Defense Secretary Austin is calling the shots!

What a club to be in!

How long will it be before ‘Made in Japan’ joins ‘Made in USA’ amongst the dead and maimed of the world?

Or, put more succinctly, Japan declares itself a legitimate target by supplying weapons to the most hated, most aggressive, genocidal empire ever to exist.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Look at those complaining of Japans exports, all supporters of nations and regimes that export military equipment and munitions around the world, orders of magnitude higher by volume than Japan. Shameless and duplicitous people, every one of them.

I wasn't aware Japan was providing weapons to China or their dog Russia.

Look at Aussie military flag waving man throwing shade at people with differing opinions. Did your government publicly debate AUKUS before your country entered into the agreement? I hope so. Japan's LDP government increasingly dispenses with such democratic trappings as in the case written about here.

Just cut the BS! These arms will end up in either Ukraine or Israel directly or to replace arms sent to those places.

Just following the masters orders as a loyal vassal.

Just cut the BS! These arms will end up in either Ukraine or Israel directly or to replace arms sent to those places.

And that's a good thing, particularly in the case of Ukraine.

Given Japan is getting Tomahawks (for a bargain price atvtgat), a weapon that is not allowed to be exported under the AECA, I'd say looks more like a two way street to me.

How friends and allies help each other...must really irks the commies here.

No, just at the duplicitous people supporting China or Russia or both who spend more on military expenditure but are never ever condemned by them, as they condemn Japan for spending less than China and Russia both.

Did your government publicly debate AUKUS before your country entered into the agreement?

No, it was done behind closed doors. Such military alliances are the purview of governments, not of ordinary people. They get all the info including the secrets, that ordinary people dont get and cant be informed on. I have no issue on allowing the Government to do its job of protecting us all. If they do a bad job I write to them and tell them so.

Patriot is an air and missile defense system. It has no land attack capability. Nobody on the ground is being hurt by Patriots. In fact Israel isn't even using Patriot in their current war because Iron Dome is good enough to take care of the rockets and drones Hamas and Hezbollah are shooting.
