Maybe Abe won’t go to Russia and will save the hard pressed Japanese tax payer some money then?

Japan can protest all it wants. Russia will not give up the islands.  And they can have all the diplomatic meetings all they want; Russia will never return the islands.

The only thing that will force Russia to give up the islands is military action.  If Japan really, REALLY wants those islands back, are they willing to go that far?  Article 9 first paragraph will NEVER allow that to happen.

It can never hurt to talk with your neighbors and try to work things out.

Russia will never return the islands.

Except they did already offer to give two islands back but Abe foolishly declined.

Let's hope Russia after much diplomacy will offer to give them back again and whoever is in charge of Japan at that time has the intelligence to take that opportunity.

You lost the war. Deal with it.

If Russia relinquishes these islands they will finish up with US military bases. If China relinquishes Hong Kong and Taiwan, they will finish up with US military bases.

Can you prove that? No, you can’t because if you were close to being right, the US would have never given Okinawa back to Japan.

If China relinquishes Hong Kong and Taiwan, they will finish up with US military bases.

No, they wouldn’t. But we would sell Taiwan weapons to defend themselves against China.
