Well why not every country needs its own active Army today . It serves 3 purposes. Gives training to those not employed before. Assists in catastrophes earth quakes , cyclones etc .Also gives the country a chance to help protect its self .

The mentality of the 50% who object to any mention of the SDF are an example of the "military phobia" that has been ingrained into the populace since 1945. Rationally there is no reason not to amend the constitution to reflect the existence of the SDF, after all it exists and everybody knows it. Just remove this obvious contradiction that is the cause of perpetual debates. Keeping the first part which denounces the use of war, is what makes it a "Peace Constitution".
