The real question is, except Apple, is there anything Japan buys from the US?

Apple? Most of their kit is made in China.

As someone else said, Google is your friend. Here is 2018 data.

The top export categories (2-digit HS) in 2018 were: mineral fuels ($9.1 billion), machinery ($8.2 billion), optical and medical instruments ($7.5 billion), aircraft ($6.5 billion), and electrical machinery ($4.8 billion).

U.S. total exports of agricultural products to Japan totaled $13 billion in 2018, our 3rd largest agricultural export market. Leading domestic export categories include: corn ($2.8 billion), beef & beef products ($2.1 billion), pork & pork products ($1.6 billion), soybeans ($927 million), and wheat ($717 million).

U.S. exports of services to Japan were an estimated $45.2 billion in 2018, 1.7% ($790 million) less than 2017, but 13.7% greater than 2008 levels. Leading services exports from the U.S. to Japan were in the travel, transport, and intellectual property (industrial processes) sectors.

I didn't know the US had such a big trade deficit with Mexico

But bear in mind, it's mostly US corporations offshoring manufacturing to Mexico and exporting back to USA, and Mexico doesn't have IP thieves copying and competing against US corporations like China is.

This is the one beef I have with Trump, his moves are just not strategic nor tactical, it's all aimed at generating simple vote buying messages.

Ossan, research, not goog is helpful. I use anything other than goog. For me it’s startpage.com

I'd rather have deficits with Japan, Mexico than China! Or Germany.

I'm not the one looking for the info. And yes, the US trade deficit with China alone is greater than the top 2 and 3 combined.

@Tom

I 'unno. Half, if not more, cars you see on US roads are made by Japanese companies, or Japanese-owned subsidiaries.

Your iPhone has a Sony camera.

Just two examples.

When Trump is finished, there will be no trade deficit because everything will be made in the USA by Americans and there will be no trading with other countries. Well, one of the US guys at the office said this, but I think he was telling a joke. But it may be what we call a "serious" joke (真面目な冗談).

What is actually America buying from Japan?

Japan's trade surplus with USA is doubled the deficit it has with China. Yet Japan runs a serial appeasement strategy towards China.
