Well that should silence all the know-it -all posters that are constantly putting down the U. S. administration.

Abe administration is willing to do anything that will appease Trump. John Bolton knew many craps that Trump administration did, and the President himself ordered the DoJ to take down Bolton's publication of the book. It means that many of what Bolton said were true.

Shinzo Abe is so desperate for President Trump's attention. Too bad, Trump-senpai does not have any interest aside himself.

Kono talks to ASO and Aso prints the billions of yen needed-its not a problem to pay them

double!

Then what was this all about then?

TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Japan to quadruple annual payments for U.S. forces stationed there to around $8 billion, Foreign Policy reported, part of Washington’s efforts to press its allies to increase their defense spending.

First Korea says he's making stuff up, then Japan. In addition to being a bloodthirsty warmonger, he's a chronic liar. Have fun with Bolton on team blue.

If you read the article your linked to, you would have seen that it didn't name any source, and that Japan denied it completely at the time. In other words, no change. Maybe the source was Bolton then, as well. I was saddened when Trump hired the War Walrus, glad when he was sacked. Even if he told the truth (which apparently he hasn't yet) who would want to talk diplomacy with a man who will blab about it as soon as he walks out the door?

Kinda doubt it ... they asked Germany for a rather high rise and now Trump wants to withdraw troups (which most people in Germany are happy about, except for the few towns that loose money that they would have gotten trough the soldiers) and it would be funny if he wouldn't have asked/demanded more from Japan as well ...

Sooner or later Trum will try to get more money from Japan as well if it didn't happen already and Japan is kinda in a pinch with a strong and very agressiv China so close to it.

Kono said he could not comment specifically on what Bolton had written since he had been unsuccessful so far in getting a copy of the book.

Time magazine reports that pirated copies of the book have been online for days. Either Japan’s Ministry of Defense is thoroughly incompetent or Taro Kono is a liar.

Well, whether Bolton lied or not, by denying this thing happen, Japan gain the upper hand in future negotiations. Basically Bolton helped a lot. By denying this ever happen, Trump cannot ask for any increase of budget in future deals unless he want to prove Bolton right and neither will Japan accept any increase because then they will show the world Bolton was right all along. So is no big deal for Japan. This only serve to damage Trump image and his oppositions are making a big deal out of it to crush him in the re-election.

Bolton just trying to cash in and sell his book. Take everything he says with a large grain of salt. His book will soon be forgotten because its garbage.

Bolton is totally misinformed.

It is the colonizer troops that must pay rent not the other way around!

Japan doesn't accept tweets as a formal request? Say it isn't true!

Japan is trying to save Trump from his own stupidity, even if he doesn't want saving.

Well that should silence all the know-it -all posters that are constantly putting down the U. S. administration.

Neither Kono nor the warmongering walrus that is the sudden darling of the regressive left are to be believed. Of course the walrus lies to stick it to Trump and sell his stupid book, and Kono can of course not publicise private discussions.

It is ridiculous that the media pretend otherwise.

ohara

Bolton just trying to cash in and sell his book. Take everything he says with a large grain of salt.

One graint? How about a truckload?

His book will soon be forgotten because its garbage.

Not before November. The propaganda media will keep trumpeting whatever he claims.

Who ever knew Bolton would become the truth-speaker of what happens behind Trump's closed doors.

Of course, the moron crew in America are responding with DARVO:

Deny (it's all lies)

Attack (Bolton is trash, even Obama didn't want him)

Revers Victim and Oppressor: Bolton is is at traitor, Trump did nothing wrong.

This is from the gaslighting handbook. Though to be fair, I believe Trump does it without even being conscious of it.

Nothing to oppose any comment against the serious duty of USA military services in Japan. I only thing it's always the same game Japanese citizens will never know to only the leading politicians do, 1 yen to million yen or billion yen for them is same mathematics, it's from the taxes politicians of no differences, it's just calculating amount of money from here to there, not like of that bank finances. Many wastes are included in treats/pacts, just to the lider manage well wherethe money goes. Some balances can be to ballistic purchases of supersonic jets, amphibious tanks, etc... Not transparency to citizens of Japan or USA.

Trump did ask for the Japanese to increase payment. It was in the news. Just because the USA gov has t FORMALLY started renegotiations doesn’t mean they didn’t demand an increase. How soon we forget.

It is the colonizer troops that must pay rent not the other way around!

You do know that Japan has been paying the US billions of dollars until now! US has not and never will pay Japan a single cent to keep its troops here! You must have been living under a rock or are simply brain dead!

Regardless of what Bolton wrote in his book it’s common knowledge that Trump wants four times as much money as now from Japan for hosting the US Troops! He has said it openly on Tv interviews many times! At the end of the day, Japan will pay for whatever Trump wants! Trump will win all day long in negotiations with the Abe administration because Japan is the puppet of the US! The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Japan’s best and only hope is for Biden to beat Trump in November so they can get a much better deal. But that won’t happen because Trump will remain the President for a second term and Japan will cough up the extra money!

Hmm.. very complicated, this. I maybe wrong but I don't think this USA , Japan (or S.Korea) is a full blown occupation. I don't think the US is exploiting Japan's natural resources or in any other way. It really is just an airport. On the other hand you have North Korea and Japan can't do much without USA mainly because of the WWII. So no rent for the airports + 2 bil feels fair but I don't know lately with the inflation and everything that maybe not be enough. 4x feels a bit too much.

Japan already pays more then any other country for American bases and its soldiers.

Last time America intervene to help defend East Asia was the Korean War. It wasn't to protect and defend Japan.

Another war between South Korea and North Korea is the most likely scenario of another conflict in East Asia. Again it's about Korea.

If you want more money call Seoul and ask them for more money. You liberated Korea from Japanese rule and occupation, then you came to their defense and saved S. Korea from becoming communist country during the Korean War. Seoul and the Moon administration, S. Korea is a rich country who should pay more, the most money, more then Japan! Not the other way around.

LOL! What about?

At NATO summit, Trump says Japan and South Korea should pay more for US troops

https://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/at-nato-summit-trump-says-japan-and-south-korea-should-pay-more-for-us-troops-1.609703

This money is not needed to pay because the US military in Japan is an iconic unwelcomed subject! Japan is aware the hostile neighbours that's why she needs US military protection! Like Mafia protection fees this is a kind of extortion to buy safety for the Japanese people! But why neighbouring countries hates Japan? Because Japan always causing tension and remarks that justified World War two or colonial days wrongdoings! This is  reaping the plants that you sowed!
