Refusing to admit you are wrong is much worse than being wrong in the first place.

The government may have the right to appoint only scientists who agree with its policy, but only a despot would exercise this right.

I was going to give Suga a benifit of doubt as he was born into a Strawberry family not a usual silverware family. But he can't listen to experts so good luck Japan the 70 odd year old men rule, with a shacking fist.

Reminds me of the supreme leader of North Korea.

-we are loyal servants of the almighty leader.

Not a good start if a Nobel prize in physics ask you to lose face for the sake of the nation.

Good luck Japan.

One of my students said that if anyone crosses Suga or disagrees with him or is critical of him or his ideas or opinions, he regulates them to some backwater position. I guess he refuses to appoint such people as well. What a freaking balling baby. He and Trump should get along famously!

Suga, himself said that any bureaucrat who was not in agreement with government policy will be moved to positions of irrelevance.

"The government would be admitting that its judgment was wrong if it reviews the decision as requested"

Admitting guilt or poor judgement isn't something the Japanese are known for.

Revisionist Suga seems to have learned nothing from history.

Oppression against scholars symbolizes the beginning of fascism in prewar Japan.

@hideomi

That's the main point and sad for Japan politics and its future.

I know someone working at gaimusho and it looks like if you were in a system that prevails on individual rights.

I'm with Suga on this one.

The more I read up on this so called Science Council of Japan, the more it seems like a corrupted system that needs some kind of reformation...
