Japan proposed that during his meeting with Xi, Abe would first reassert that the Senkaku Islands are an inherent part of Japanese territory, but then “acknowledge that China has a case as well” to the islands. He would then propose that China and Japan seek to settle the issue through mutual dialogue over time. None of this would be included in a joint statement or any other documents officially released after the summit meeting.

What does this mean to you? It means Abe has made another horrible concession to that monster across the sea. It's only a matter of time before China owns and controls the Senkakus...then Okinawa...then the principal islands of Japan. You were warned not to make this concession. America hates cowards who concede their rights for a temporary respite. Get rid of Abe. He's selling Japan out to China. Open your eyes and see what he's done.

Abe wants this meeting too much. He is about to become Xi Jinping's lap dog. There is no dealing and negotiating with the coward who holds a gun to your head. Japan must recognize that China's gun is actually empty and nothing but a bluff. Abe must NOT give in to Xi. It is the Chinese way to take a little at a time until all is taken. Japan must not become a Chinese colony.

You would not be wrong, had you been talking about the US.

Did China ever overthrow its decision that made before? Never ! This is totally different with Japan, when some officer said this, other officer can overthrow it right soon.

So the answer for Abe is No. Actually for Abe, no need to meet Xi, Japan and China just begin to trade each other again.

If Abe is sincere, he has to prove it with actions and it would be good for both countries. There are people here who are wishing that the talks don't happen because the Chinese government is CCP. Don't they know that the CCP has been in power since 1949?

jerseyboy,

Abe wants his cake, and to eat it too. He wants to meet with China, knowing full well that it is just a matter of time before he belittles the Chinese victims of Japan's war-time aggression by visiting Yasukuni, or doing something else to whitewash events. I hope China stands firm and ignores this simpleton, and the country he leads who thinks this way.

Well said!

Abe is looking for a photo op with Xi to boost his rating. A curtesy handshake may be what he can expect. How come recently there are no more reports of Chinese incursion or aggression. No news about China bad is becoming too boring. Is China behaving nicely now? Japanese media must be in the quiet mode. Abenomics is not doing that well and if China decides to tighten the tap Abenomics will be dead in the water. Maybe at APAC Abe should try to speak Chinese to break the ice.

They should talk. Now both sides know where the other stands, but business is business

for the billions of Yen J companies will lose in China if he visits the shrine again, im guessing that common sense will prevail this time around. but then again this is Japanese politics!?

A public promise not to pay his respects at Yasukuni again would be impossible for Abe, whose conservative agenda includes recasting Japan’s wartime history in a less apologetic tone.

Hence the problem. Abe wants his cake, and to eat it too. He wants to meet with China, knowing full well that it is just a matter of time before he belittles the Chinese victims of Japan's war-time aggression by visiting Yasukuni, or doing something else to whitewash events. Is China looking to talk to Japan?

It takes two to tango.

haha this is going to be very interesting indeed. seeing abe (denial of history) personally getting a history lesson.

Tempting to say that this time Abe should change his mind at the last moment and give the CCP a taste of their own medicine.

Don't kowtow. China has to lose it's "middle kingdom" stupidity.

No sign of revolution in China and Japan, Both countries people seems happy without being sent to wars in middle east. Time to talk more how to increase loan to USA and sell their products to USA.

There is no need to talk to these people until their government is thrown down, which should be any second

Who is going to 'throw them down'? Most Chinese are happy with the government, as the people have seen a huge increase in the quality of life over the past 30 years. Overthrowing a government generally requires a high level of discontent and disaffection for the people to rally together to to it.

Oh for the love of... There is no need to talk to these people until their government is thrown down, which should be any second. And yes "these people" are the CCP.

Dynamic, action, these are the hallmarks of Japanese PM Abe.

NOT!

After being in office for several years, he still hasn't met the neighbours!
