. Every country that takes in many foreigners end up losing their own culture.

Yep. Just look at the Cree, the Incas and the Maoris.... Which indigenous tribe are you from, 25years in Japan?

Because your moniker suggests that you yourself have been "taken in" at some point

Doesn't anyone read the news. Many of the so called refugees aren't even from Syria. Every country that takes in many foreigners end up losing their own culture.

Take care of the Japanese refugees from the Disater that IS Fukushima!-I would guess that a good 70 percent of these "Refugees" are Economic cases & NOT War victims-look at any newscast and what does one see?-Young MEN making up the vast majority of the refugees pushing their way through clearly Without their families. Keep them Out, Japan, the culture you save may be your own!

I agree with that

"Thanks for your global public service announcement AND thanks for your accurate tally and insight of the ideology and mindset of whom you speak of."

You're most welcome.

No need to thank moi; just stating a fact.

Many other countries just wished they had Japan's guts; Germany is one of them after the current debacle.

And who said other countries have an absolute obligation to resolve someone else's problems?

Syrians (and other refugees) need help, that's for sure!

Nowhere is written that other countries have a duty to resettle Syria's entire population is they so wish.

Japan is doing the right thing.

I can see what unrestricted immigration is doing to the UK.

Japan, just don’t do it!!!

Debito should go and sort out the US first.

It's so amusing when people say that Japan should be helping itself before helping others.. If governments operated with such one-dimensional naivety, we would still be in the dark ages. It's comical, or disturbing, that there are still grown adults who think that governments can only handle one problem at a time.

For one I would like to see where all the money goes from all these countries. Syria they could set up a protected zone close to a friendly boarder and move refuges their. This would get world wide protection, building of new town and then other countries would not have to worry about potential terrorist in group. Just an ideal of what to do with refuges.

.And????

Are they gonna fill the carrier up with refugees, in order to bring them back to Peking?

Japain is doing the correct thing; give money, keep them out. Japanese don' want Syrians or any foreigner in large numbers and they're within their rights.

Actually we should all be helping them to sort out their county and remain there.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Good job Japan.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

More like: Here take our money because we're never going to take in any refugees

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I'm sure the government will regards this as money well spent if it means keeping out the foreigners.

Yeah and why not? Keep them out. They have no business here. Nowadays, ordinary japanese are having trouble staying afloat. Japan owes a decent living and opportunity to it's own citizens first.

The refugees ought to be grateful. Then, go pound more sand.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I don't really agree with the idea of Japan taking in refugees (as I've commented before, it's just going to create so much problems), but throwing money like this is wrong too. Where does Japan get this money from? And why can't they spend it on their own people. $800M?!?! Seriously? You can help clean up Fukushima with that. You can create government-subsidized child care services to promote women working. You can provide all sorts of social benefits....

I find LDP looking that desperate to be seen as "generous good guys" when they make unnecessary donations like this.

US and Nato must accept Russian military involvement in Syria. Future Government should be decided by Syrian peoples and not Russian or West. If you want to stop Syrian refugees fleeing to Europe and then you must create safe heaven and build new refugees villages inside Syria.

intervention by the UN should be voted by all middleeast leader and they should participate as well ,,, other than that its meddling in foreign countries sovereignty and destroys what UN community is all about

Bad idea

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Okay I welcome the Japanese Government aid to Syrian refugees. The problem is how much Refugees will receive aid from Japan? If you give money to UN and then UN will spend 75% of fund for administration costs and only 25% of fund will go to refugees.

The refugees need safe place to live and shelter and foods.

Germany can't take all Syrian refugees. EU members do not want to take Muslim refugees. They need to think about long term solution and short term solution will never stop mass migration problem.

UN must create safe heaven inside Syria and build apartments for refugees' family. Most of Syria cities and villages are completely destroyed by war. Those refugees have nowhere to go and live even if the war was end. Those refugees need home. UN need to create safe heaven inside Syria and build new village and protect by fully armed International troops and air forces.

A few weeks ago, I read in the news Egyptian billionaire has asked Greece Government for to sale Island to him and he will build apartments for Syrian refugees. If we can create safe heaven for refugees inside Syria and then he doesn't need to buy island and he can build more apartments for refugees.

The suitable location is border area with Turkey. Always border town created job for local peoples. It will be good for both Turkey and Syrian refugees in short and long term. The border town like Kobani should be protecting by international military and rebuild Kobani for refugees.

US and Nato must accept Russian military involvement in Syria. Future Government should be decided by Syrian peoples and not Russian or West. If you want to stop Syrian refugees fleeing to Europe and then you must create safe heaven and build new refugees villages inside Syria.

Pay them to keep away?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I agreed, tinawatanbe.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

And then do nothing to help them.

Offering money is not "do nothing to help them"

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Paul Laimal-Convoy: "Ahh, Japan. Perhaps, when Japan suffers a similar problem, the rest of the world can just write them a nice, fat cheque...

... And then do nothing to help them."

Exactly. Worst part is they'd accept the cheque and use it like the leaders who get Japan's money will.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Good on you Japan!! Just hope it gets in the refugees hands.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Ahh, Japan. Perhaps, when Japan suffers a similar problem, the rest of the world can just write them a nice, fat cheque...

... And then do nothing to help them.

@foreigners who hate Japan to give any help to refugees

Have you thought of children rejected by foreigners already living there?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I will say something maybe it will hurt a little bit

Come on syrian freedom ain't for free at all ,,Die free

if you think that japan is giving money for free you are delusional ,,, Invaders in the past used to march and invade then rebuild the country so that if they blame them for the invasion ,,,Right-wingers netoyou replied on blogs ,,,don't talk our language ,don't enjoy our prosperity ,,,,,

syrian should fight more seriously against assad and forget the idea of being refugee and march like the battle of saipan , battle of okinawa where in caves marched against american soldier like crazies with inferior weapons inflicting thousands of american soldiers being dead

if their resources are taken out ,,, don't blame except yourself ,,, Money is not earned for free (money earned free easy can be taken ) , either by war or by trade and syrians got neither ,,,,,,, in the future the right of their existence is equal zero

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

"Let the USA and Israel take all the displaced people, after all they are the ones doing all the bombing.

@25years in Japan you nailed it!

I've talked to some of those refugees in Shibuya, and that's exactly what happened they are running away from the BOMBS. So since Japan is the "other than" they ask Japan to sweep up some of the aftermath. and Japan strongly believes in customer satisfaction, and hopes to keep incoming resources to maintain its external customer base, shrouded with diplomacy imagery.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Oh how very generous and heroic! REFUSE the people in dire need from entering your country despite their very lives being threaten, but instead say you're going to throw a bunch of money their way (and you can claim it with taxes later!). And some people wonder why Japan is never given a seat on the UN! Throwing money at international problems is all Japan can ever do, and meanwhile back at home it has to raise taxes to cover government blunders in previous tax raises because there is no money at home to cover social programs, let alone take care of the homeless and displaced (ie. Fukushima).

Pathetic!

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Starving and dehydrated people don't need money because it will not do anything. Yes I do understand that they are donating this money to some sort of charity but only a fraction of that if any will go to them unfortunately. Just look at Haiti.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Yen maybe? Unless Japan want to cash US bonds or saving frpm Omoiyari fund by evicting US bases in Japan

2 ( +4 / -2 )

What a waste of tax payer's money. Doesn't anyone read the news from around the world ? The so called refugees are now resorting to crime, thieving and raping etc. You wait and see, it will turn out to be a disaster for Germany, UK, France and others. The only aid worth giving is to the Palestinians who are suffering in horrific ways, and then I would rather the Japanese government spent more helping their own people.Too many people in Japan are struggling to live, especially as the wages for many people in Japan is incredibly low compared to other so called advanced countries.

Let the USA and Israel take all the displaced people, after all they are the ones doing all the bombing. I would say that the USA ( Japan's Boss ) has told Abe to give more money.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

I wonder would Japan pay for US refugees in the future?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"Japan, which accepted just 11 asylum seekers out of 5,000 applications last year, will provide about $810 million in aid in response to refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq, "

Let the truth be told:

The majority are Muslims....more have been going and are going to Malaysia, and Indonesia, where they feel more comfortable, and have access to Islamic culture. Malaysian govt provides them huge benefits, and there are tons of Mosques, and Middle eastern stores and restaurants. AND they can open up and run businesses much easier than in Japan..

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I'm sure the government will regards this as money well spent if it means keeping out the foreigners.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

How generous of them to waste my tax money on nations who likes to kill one another! Why not go in and kill the ISIS instead, then let the refugees go back home?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I thought we had no money left? That's why we've got to pay more tax?

If we've got nearly a trillion kicking about, I suppose the pension crisis has been fixed, then?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

It could be that the Japanese government will buy up a bunch of k-trucks from Suzuki and Daihatsu to send so they can flee in them. Would have to send driving teachers first to teach them how to drive stick.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

It's pretty easy giving away money with the printer's been spitting out notes like they're expecting the apocalypse.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

" 240 million yen will go to Lebanon, which hosts 1.2 million Syrian refugees" About 200yen per person, about a falafel per head.

That was last Friday, today its 810 million US$, or is it a reporting error? But then Abe is at the UN trying to connect his islands to he rest of the world of 2015. It seems to take a few days.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Who are they paying this too?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

As somebody above has pointed out, what about doing something for the folks living rough on the streets of Tokyo and other major cities? Also what about more money into psychiatric care? Don't get me wrong, the refugee crisis confronting Europe is a major problem, but just throwing money at it isn't enough.

Furthermore, in that this is Japan we are talking about, it is safe to assume that all this dosh will be given at arms length. Who knows, Japan might accept one Syrian refugee family (much like South Park and its "Token Black" character), but don't expect a rash of doner kebab shops to spring up in Tokyo as a result of this.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The devil will be in the details. It could be that the Japanese government will buy up a bunch of k-trucks from Suzuki and Daihatsu to send so they can flee in them.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

$810 million in aid in response to refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq

810 million in aid?? You could Entomb Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Land and Sea At 7 million per reactor to entomb. Plus rightfully compensate The Evacuees of the Earthquake, Tsunami and Triple nuclear meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi. And still have at least 400 + million left over.

Please Stop Being The US's ATM J Govt and take care of the Nuclear Disaster situation at your own doorstep. This is pitiful.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

Please take care of all the people living in blue sheets first.

16 ( +18 / -2 )

Wow. How generous of them to throw money at the problem to give them all the good feels. And then forget about it completely whilst patting themselves on the back.

Can't even take care of the people in Fukushima. What are they doing sending that much away?
