Excellent news from the Japan/US/Euro side, bringing Burma/Myanmar back in from the cold is going to benefit the population in general and will add economic growth to the region. Hopefully the country wont fall into a civil war in the near future, as the current military relaxes its grip on the power steering. Watch this space for further developments !

The rich old men of the Burmese Military are not going to give up their power that easily. Hundreds of political prisoners are still being held there. Almost no freedom for the media. Hundreds of thousands of different ethnicities the govt. refuses to acknowledge as citizens.
Make no mistake: Burma has a long way to go - probably a decade or two - before it can be seen as a real democracy with real freedom. Let's not jump the gun and start throwing billions of $ and Yen at them until real reform has taken place.
