Now is the time when China is worried about looking too supportive of North Korea before the G20.

Exactly what good do sanctions against North Korea accomplish? The only country that has a large volume of trade with North Korea is China, and although China agrees to, signs and ratifies the agreements to impose sanctions it then just ignores them anyway. North Korea would have collapsed a long time ago if China observed the sanctions it agreed to and stopped propping up North Korea. Impose some sanctions on China for not keeping their agreements and that might change things.

Since the summit is in China, it's more likely Japan (Abe) would act like a puppy, desperate to have a photo op with Xi while shaking his hand...Remember that cringe fest?

If you were really "A Realist", then you'd know that won't happen.

To date sanctions haven`t been all the effective given that China can turn a blind eye to them at any moment. Hopefully someone can think of a new way to squeeze Kim instead of doing the same old thing and getting the same result, which is next to nothing.
