Nonsense.

Korea rips up the so-called “final” agreement, then makes threats against japan for not meeting some unspecified demand that Korea can’t even figure out.
Real solid leadership coming out of that country.
Samit Basu
Moon says Korea will drop the pact and cut Japan off from its radar assets if Japan continues with its trade retaliations. This cut off applies to USFK(aka THAAD), because the terms of SOFA mandates that the US not share any intelligence it acquired in Korea with a third party without a Korean permission. Korea-Japan GSOMIA was that Korean permission and it will go away.
The US got the message and is applying a full-blown diplomatic pressure on Abe san to cut it out and come to his senses.
Heckleberry
Hang on, so you curb exports of raw high tech materials on allegation that SK is untrustworthy, but you wish to keep sharing military intelligence? Hahaha

@Ascissor
As a lot of politicians demonstrate, their knowledge of something not always transforms into clever policy.
Realization
Yes, this should be done at-once
Ascissor
@Asakaze
Maybe Japan's foreign minister knows something you don't?
Asakaze
Wrong. Time for Japan and S.Korea to part, after all its tricks (like a lock-on a Japanese plane) S.Korea proved to be a too unreliable ally. S.Korea sees Japan only as a milking cow and a scapegoat for everything. Who needs such alliance?
smithinjapan
AlexBecu: "That's why your government is running around like a chicken without its head on ;)"
As it if needed more pointing out how wrong you always are and how you jump to conclusions and assume people who don't side with the Japanese demands MUST be South Korean or Chinese, what is my government, amigo?
smithinjapan
AlexBecu: "South Korea supporters are so worried about Japan's economy being affected, I know that must be coming from a place of love on your part."
Here comes Alex's stereotypical, kindergarten retorts again! I don't want either nation's economy or otherwise to hurt from this. I wan't both to grow up. You should, too, but it's pretty clear you don't.
Samit Basu
@AlexBecu
Japan is NOT working on anything; Japan has no money for it.

One nuke reaching Tokyo is enough, you need more?
Sam Yi
I strongly object to keep Military Info pact. S.Korea easily know the Facts of Japan base on historical experience.
AlexBecu
South Korea supporters are so worried about Japan's economy being affected, I know that must be coming from a place of love on your part.
That's why your government is running around like a chicken without its head on ;)
SJ
While being unable to trust, sharing military info with S. Korea sounds oxymoronic.
smithinjapan
AlexBecu: "Dont worry about Japanese selling their products, we don't have a problem in that area. Foreigners are buying in bulk, and flooding Japan by the millions."
That is domestic sales, it does not replace export. Both nations are suffering from what's going on, but as Moon pointed out, and as Kono here proves, Japan stands to lose more if this expands beyond imports/exports into military cooperation. You should study a little bit.
smithinjapan
Japan wants to have its cake and eat it too, once again. If things keep escalating, SK should cut Japan out of all training exercises with the US, and out of all info.
AlexBecu
Japan is already working on 6th generation stealh fighter and already has F35.
Relations with China has improved and North is focused on South if a war happens. They have a limited supply of weapons to reach Japan while they have millions of missiles and artillery pointed at Seoul.
Dont worry about Japanese selling their products, we don't have a problem in that area. Foreigners are buying in bulk, and flooding Japan by the millions.
Akie
Moon is a very reasonable person, Abe is a seasoned politician. There will be a solution, soon.
Akie
Speaking of TV, Japan still has the best technology. Quality and quantity are two different concepts.
Cricky
Without South Korea Japan is clueless. Japan's military capabilities are on the whole impressive but if you break it down there are some creditable machines and a lot of obsolete ones. F4 phantoms? For instance and the infantry using G3 copies that retain the wooden stock and for grip. They are heavy only the paratroopers get the lightweight version. No magnified sight. Ships aside from a hand full of American supplied ones are decades technology wise.
Japan needs SK and pissing then off is just stupid, go to any overseas country and the cars are SK, TVs, Phones if you live in Japan everything is Japanese but other countries not so much.
AlexBecu
Your own words quote 'US military bases that provide Japan security. Where are those bases? South Korea'.
Chip Star
Lmao! Thanks for stating the obvious. You see no difference between bases on the DPRK's doorstep and bases on islands hundreds of miles away? Yes, please do your homework before you start speaking.
AlexBecu
Right, because the U. S. Doesn't have bases in Japan/Okinawa as well. They have more soldiers in Japan than S. Korea. Do your homework before speaking.
Akie
Chip Star, why would Japan need SK to defend herself ? Japanese are the only people needed to defend Japan, as simple as that.
Chip Star
The US military bases that provide Japan security. Where are those bases? South Korea, which means Japan needs South Korea for security purposes. You're hatred for South Korea is clouding your judgment.
Akie
Stupid people talk about SK as if she is stupid too. Ignorance never contributes to diplomacy, as simple as that.
AlexBecu
Some people are not aware that S. Korea is in much more serious danger from North not only because of distance and location, but because North wants to bring back South under its control again. Last time they had a war between the two Koreas Japan was not even attacked by North.
S. Korea needs Japan a lot more for its security and economy than the other way around.
oldman_13
Why?
The South Korean government has shown that it is absolutely enamored of North Korea, and is not to be trusted. This is one of the most anti-Japan and pro-North Korea president in South Korea's history.
Ganbare Japan!
Well said OssanAmerica, well said. Japan has a far superior strike force than SK. The US "protection buffer" in SK is the only security that Japan benefit from. And with North Korea-Japan relations becoming better, and the Chairman Kim-PM Abe Summit on the horizon, soon that US "protection buffer" may not be needed. In fact, within 3 years, the new NK will probably have better relations with Japan than SK, and be considered a friendly nation.
OssanAmerica
Japan does not need South Korea for any security reasons, The only value comes from the US bases and military presence there.
kwatt
It seems alliance don't exist any more.
Chip Star
I'm not spinning anything, I merely stated a fact that you and Ossan have failed to refute. You perceived that statement of fact as a disingenuous attempt at spin.
I can only control what what I say, not how others perceive it. I stated a fact.
Chip Star
Like I said, Japan needs South Korea in order to reduce the risk from the DPRK. You did nothing to refute this fact except trying to obscure it. Too funny.
Shin Ra
It's too bad Park was brainwashed by this crazy cult leader. She was really trying to move past historical issues and bring the two nations together, but guess that's not to be...
IloveCoffee
Japan's official position was that some of the materials imported from Japan were leaked into North Korea, and for that reason, they are removing South Korea from the preferential list, because they are not reliable enough. Well, if they think South Korea is not reliable enough to keep tech-related materials from being leaked, why would they think they are secure and reliable enough to keep highly classified military intelligence information?
Obviously they know they are reliable, and they know there never was any leaks to North Korea, they just use that as an excuse to justify their retaliation for the court rulings.
Trump did the same with China. They blacklisted Huawei under the pretext that Huawei is dangerous to national security, but few months later, during the G7 meeting in Japan, Trump said they would remove Huawei from the list because the trade talks with China are going smoothly, so i.e. he admitted the blacklisting was never because Huawei is a danger to national security, but simply a bargaining chip in the trade war with China.
Japan just did the same thing.
Akie
Talk about wars doesn't give Japan any security, just opposite, as simple as that.
Akie
OssanAmerica, ready to defend a country, what is wrong about that ? China doesn't have any military ties with any nations against any other nations, is that the model that Japan should follow ?
OssanAmerica
Yea right.

74 years since the end of the war, Japan still is a militaristic nation, unfortunately.
yoshi
Japan, The US and SK's triangle military alliance is important. And intelligence sharing is important too. But SK must decide to participate positively to Pacific-India strategy with the US allies. It's not allowed to watch both The US and China.
extanker
Opposition to an agreement that could help keep their country secure because of actions from 70 years in the past. It's insane.
OssanAmerica
Good to see that Japan is not working against the US-JPN-SK strategic alliance. Now let's see if South Korea can say the same.
No, Japan needs the Unites States to be in SK to reduce the risk from the DPRK. Whereas South Korea needs Japan to provide the logistics needed by the U.S. to protect South Korea.
Samit Basu
Well, it is in best interest of both countries to go their separate ways.
Chip Star
Lmao! Japan needs South Korea in order to reduce the risk from the DPRK.
The partties need to step back an rethink all of this.
Yubaru
If they can manage to keep any security agreements together in place and viable, there is hope for negotiating the other problems between the two countries.
Korea and Japan have much to gain by working together and finding common ground, somewhere, particularly now, would be a great boost for both sides!
