Japanese lawmakers meet top Chinese official

Japan again has shown that it is willing to be a good neighbor, but as usual this open hand shall be slapped away by Communist China. What Communist China wants isn't a friend, Communist China wants servitude.

Communist China thinks it is the most powerful nation in Asia and that everyone should kowtow before them. But, the truth is Communist China is just a bully who if pushed back will cry like the baby it is.

Do you have info that these nine lawmakers visited Yasukuni?????? Did you check the record in Yasukuni to ensure your claim or just guessing ?????

It becomes difficult to reach an agreement to maintain a mutual relationship when both leaders have based their political reputations and careers around issues relating to historic and territorial disputes. There's more common ground on building the economic relationship.

Well, this visit was a total failure. Japan is not giving away its sovereign territory to anyone, especially not to China who is being lambasted by all its neighbors for its aggressive actions.

Also, I always find it frustratingly ironic that China takes issue with the way Japan teaches/views history, yet is notorious for spreading lies and bias in their own history. Not saying its okay for Japan to sink to China's level (they aren't even close now, but they could do better), but jeez, how do these people complain about "history" with a straight face when they enshrine the worst mass-murderer in history (e.g., Mao Zedong)? I guess Chinese politicians have no shame.

Japan's door will open but China will have to turn the key.

It is good that the Japanese delegation have taken this first step towards mending ties with China. It is also good that the Chinese side has accepted the Japanese delegation. For those that are blinded by their own misgivings and want selectively pick arguments for the sake of either China or Japan bashing, they don't help the situation in anyway and only contribute to the ongoing problems instead of a resolution. As always there are 2 sides to every story. Hopefully things will progress from here although be it slowly and a bumpy road to travel with no easy long term solution.

As I said. Japan makes approaches to improve the relationship and China continues to thwart any such efforts as it prefers to maintain he present breakdown in diplomatic relations. Japan is trying to reduce tensions while China is keeping them up.

This is an encouraging sign that Abe’s govt is taking Washington’s requests seriously and trying to make some efforts to mend the fences with Japan’s giant neighbor although it’s still too early to call to have a breakthrough (summit) in Nov. given the amount of distrusts accumulated on both sides for quite some time.

White House is definitely hoping Japan and China improve their ties, that would do everyone good.

Summarizing the advises he gave Abe in their private meetings during his state visit last month, Obama said “In our discussions, I emphasized with Prime Minister Abe the importance of resolving this issue peacefully -- not escalating the situation, keeping the rhetoric low, not taking provocative actions, and trying to determine how both Japan and China can work cooperatively together. And I want to make that larger point. We have strong relations with China. They are a critical country not just to the region, but to the world. “

The big question remains: if and when Abe can be trusted by Japan’s immediate neighbors – Russia, China, S.K and N.K. At this juncture, that is an anyone’s guess.
