Oh, I thought it was a Japanese term used to praise the unadorned, clean beauty of a Japanese woman.
Yep, pretty sure that's what it means.
Yamato Nadeshiko.... personification of an idealized Japanese woman.
At least that's what the Japanese around me think it refers to........... LOL

If anything is the epitome of "unadorned, clean beauty", it is a sweaty woman with no make-up running around in shorts kicking balls.

Opportunity Mr. Kan, Opportunity
So Mr. Kan, this is a gift to the nation you say? So does that mean the trophy is going to the Fukushima area or futher North? Sorry to say this but I think what Kan said is a load of crock.
A gift to the nation? How about this for a Gift to the nation. MONEY, some cold hard cash for those people lost everything.
Here's another Gift to the nation idea - The Truth. Give the gift that keeps on giving.....the truth.
Glad Japan's national team won the World Cup but that means 11 girls won it. It's not political. it certainly isn't a gift to the nation. If it is a gift to the nation get the checks in the mail as soon as possible and stop the Tax Hike.

I agree - wonderful for the girls and good on them. I sincerely hope their fighting spirit has raised the morale of Tohoku people and across the country.
But transparency on food safety, harsh penalties on people breaking the law, honesty about what areas are unsafe and real hard cash released to help with the clean up and rebuilding effort would be a greater long-term gift to the nation, methinks.

Yes it was a good win. But Mr Kan there is a greater gift that can be given to the nation. And that is for you and your useless government to get off your collective rear ends and actually do some governing. You know things like sort out the selling of contaminated food etc. Now that would be a great gift to the country.

He should thank to Team USA !

With a 16% approval rating, stepping down may also be a nice gift to the nation...

What does a politician have anything to do with a sports game?
