New U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy plans to visit the Tohoku region next week. The area devastated by the March 2011 disaster received extensive U.S. assistance under the Operation Tomodachi initiative.
Kennedy, who met with Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera last Thursday, also said she would like to visit Okinawa in the near future to get a firsthand look at the U.S. bases issue. During their meeting, Kennedy and Onodera discussed the realignment of U.S. forces in Japan, TV Asahi reported.
During a busy first week on the job, Kennedy also met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and visited the U.S. Yokota Air Base where she mingled with personnel and their families.

Do me a favor and skip your visit to Okinawa. Everyone is going to go crazy because of who you are, or more accurately who your father was, but you bring nothing to the table that can change things here.
Quite a few of my Okinawan/Japanese friends see you as nothing more than a puppet.

Yubaru, for once I can totally agree with you. Also, would like to add that they'll most likely NOT take her to the areas where people are homeless and living in temporary housing. Which I might add are falling apart.

Can she at least show up for work before you put her down?

If you haven't been seeing the news recently she already is at work! And if you go back to the article on this site that announced her appointment you'll see I disagreed with her coming here in the first place.
Japan and the US need an Ambassador with the political savvy and clout to not just deal with Japan and US issues but also China and the Korea's as well, as we should all know are intertwined.
She is inexperienced, and nothing more than just a famous daughter and figure-head.

Hopefully she is smart and open minded to pick up the most serious issue in the Asia. She will be doing very well if she is willing to listen and raise proper questions instead of being too aggressive. Let's give her a chance to do so.

Kerry does the work, she does the show.
I agree, she should delay it until others sort the problems there.
