What's matter is only election, after several election none of Japan actual problem is being addressed like declining population, poor economic growth etc.
Capuchin
Yep, that about sums up the LDPs political platform.
Cricky
Is it just me or do others find the hand on hip, fist pump embarrassing.
Beto Ramirez
Unite as one? Please… they just want full control over everything. This is just masquerading their greed.

Of course, he'd say that. What's worrying is that I hear this kind of nonsense uncritically parroted by members of the public. In what kind of state of affairs is it difficult to imagine that a country can be run by anyone else than ultranationalists, corrupt hereditary out-of-touch politicians and a party with deep ties to a religious cult?
Also, it's very predictable they'll use the current situation with Russia as a pretext to change the constitution. Japan already can defend itself and has a relatively high military budget. But that won't stop them from claiming Japan could become "another Ukraine" or some something.
Michael Machida
Are they still doing the fist in the air to show how motivated and enthusiastic they pretend to be?
Aly Rustom
more proof this country is not a democracy.
I don't think they care. And why would they? They'll still get voted in no matter how much they screw up. Must be the perfect job being an LDP member.
Well said!

Just about every other option I can think of.

The only time grown adults should be doing this is when half cut doing the Time Warp at someone's wedding.

That's not their objective. They just want to keep getting re-elected and a bit of pie in the sky rhetoric, gladhanding and bribery in over-represented "LDP kingdoms" is all they need to pull that off.

Specifically the ones whose votes count for double those of other people.
crowbag
and thanks to voter apathy and nationalism we'll continue to get garbage like this. yay

Godamm, in a one party system, he forgot to mention NK. Sack his speech writer!

To be honest he Kishida Wasn’t voted in by the people anyway. And Abe as we are constantly told leads the biggest faction of the LDP. So getting a fair representative is just not going to happen. It’s right wing nuts with hereditary jobs that rule. Rest of us well not really of any importance.
Dango bong
ah the fist in air. NOW you have my vote!
Blacklabel
is that the world famous gattsu pose?
Someone must be ready to ganbatteru!
Sven Asai
I don’t even have that one option because not allowed to vote here. lol

You are if you get Japanese citizenship, but if you live in the kind of place that keeps re-electing the local LDP capo it's hardly worth giving up your own nationality for.

Cricky,
Like the dyed black hair, I think they believe that it makes them look virile and macho, like the samurai in their favourite manga or taiga dramas.

Gringeworthy. Oh dear. Japan really is in trouble. Get ready to see more posters with suited clowns holding their fist up. Vote for me - I can hold my fist with a stern expression. No doubt voters will continue to vote in this incompetent lineup of clueless idiots simply because the opposition isn't any better.

With fists in the air and hands on their hips.
Doesn't get anymore obvious than that !
Guaranteed to promote useless dithering and redundant announcements !
Iam not impressed - sorry-
Don't bother comparing previous leaders either.
Disapointing !

They're not far wrong, sadly. The CDPJ elected a new leader after Edano stepped down in the wake of the election fiasco, but I couldn't tell you his name without looking it up. A halfway competent opposition party would show up the LDP for the caste of useless old frauds that they are and grind them so far into the dirt they could never show their stupid old faces again.
Cricky
All they the opposition have to do is promote a clear plan of improving normal peoples lives. It’s not that hard but to hard for the ruling elite. That’s really upsetting.
Aly Rustom
LOL! Exactly!
Well said mate! Well said!

Yes, and they need to present it the right way, by getting it heard in Diet debates, rather than just tabling pointless no-confidence motions. Of course their motions will be defeated by the LDP majority but the message will be out there and the LDP will just look like they're rejecting good ideas for the sake of party politics.

Pathetic pic

Whole lotta (gold silver platinum) lining those public paid for-deep pockets. IS it Tax (Fraud) time again?? Somebody call a forensic accountant, but not for me!!
That's what those watches mean.
You love to see it happen but it'll take some doing. Fancy speeches and seances, fiesty feelings won't bend this big greasy pole; the old old boys know it's all in the bag. Been a slimy skid since the friendly neighborhood pin stripe artists stumbled back in power like a zombie after 3 11.
Vote looting or Gerrymander, the bench looting or friends called Judges, tube looting oh yea, airwaves restricted to 24 hrs of one party-think. Makes you North K Kim took notes or is it, the other way around?
What a pic. Lootery on parade!
