I'd like to change that headline:
yet another reported case of emotionally exploitative photo-ops aimed at preying on the sentiments of the Japanese public....

Is he reversing the release of disgusting water into the ocean?...
Nope doesn't mention that at all.
Well done Japan Today in showing your support for LDP more articles about the opposition party and what they are doing would be more appreciated at least keep the articles 1 to 1.

Really?
It’s been over ten years now.
How much have the govt helped in revitalizing the affected areas?
Especially in the last few years?

Give Kishida one bit of credit. At least he showed up there, token or not. Trump did not go to a memorable event corremorating 100 years after the end of WW1 because he didn't want to get his toupee wet. A token pretense is better than a no-show.
I remember that quake which came a mere months after that horrible Haiti quake. It got on the sentiments of many people around the world. One thing I did was send messages to Japanese children on a blog sponsored by MercyCorps. They collected the messages, translated them and emailed them to Japan. I hope the kids got some needed emotional support from it all.

It means nothing, just a media sound, visual if he cared if his party cared these people wouldn’t still be in the position they are in a generation latter.

I lost my hometown 女川町 (land and grandparents’ houses).
At least his visit will remind the Japanese people of the hardships people are facing.
