Instead of ‘vowing’ Kishida needs to actually do something within a set timeframe.
He has had plenty of time to resolve the issue.

Election time....

So, still discussing the possibility of taking the first step towards making an effort... It is a long path before the actual effort, and much preparation, so keep up the good work, and you will soon be one step closer to making an effort!

We should also consider the viewpoint of the abducted. Do you think they want to return? Some of them have spent over forty years living in N.K. They're probably married, have children and perhaps grandchildren. Would they be willing to leave this family and return to their Japanese family?
Maybe returning isn't the best solution.

NK has shown to be proudly anti-diplomatic in their deals with Japan, and that include things much more relevant to current international affairs than the abductees (such as the missile tests, threats of nuclear devastation and cyber crime) what does Kishida thinks he can get with a summit?
These are only empty promises without meaning to try and rescue a little bit of his lost popularity.

I imagine PM won't publicly mention the summit meeting in a vacuum. So, I am curious what diplomatic efforts, how much, have been exerted. Or is there any sign from N Korea? All Japanese are praying for return of all abductees yesterday.
