Well that's that problem delt with then.

Just like his predecessors, saying the right things in public, but never actually DOING anything productive!
His party controls both houses of the Diet, and if he really wanted to do something for women, he could have them push through legislation supporting what he is talking about here.
But, as with his predecessors, I will believe it when I see it!

Respect starts indeed with action.
Give women power over their sexual life, their pregnancy, their maternity, their professional life (accepting family is more important than work).
Punish rape as it should, with followup of a list of sex offenders.
dbsaiya
Yes, by giving racist and homophobic women like Sugita a place in his cabinet. Well played Kishida...
TrevorPeace
Typical all talk no action. The speech should have been delivered by a senior female cabinet minister - oops, no such thing!
smithinjapan
In a society that were fair and equal, one wouldn't have to announce that you were heretofore going to include the views of others; they would already be included. No doubt he thinks them pesky women should be thankful.

Hmmm is there an echo in the room?- This is EXACTLY what Abe vowed to do.

This is nothing new, I mean the speech!
browny1
But....but.... I thought these words were uttered years ago with Abe's "Womenomics" policy.
You know, the one with the "All women can shine" campaign slogan.
What happened to that? Suffered the old squashed underfoot by the OBs as always.
Japan's rank in the World Gender Gap Index sees it currently sitting at around an abominably embarrassing 120.
But Kishida is certainly hoping that his out with the Old "Abenomics etc" and in with his new "New Capitalism" will correct the deficiencies.

Kishida said -
And I say: There are evidences of sexual kidnapping of hundreds of thousands of girls and women, and countless other barbaric acts, committed by a certain country which has never paid reparations.

And have been exaggerated by LDP policies despite Kishidas virtue signaling for a foreign audience.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/22/world/asia/japan-women-suicide-coronavirus.html
The LDP gerontocrats were too bust bailing out Japan Inc cronies to help women and households.

What a star, give him a pat on the back….

I wonder how his generosity went down in the World Assembly for Women. Maybe he thought he was being progressive in front of the world.
Sven Asai
Yes, ok, that’s good, and will he also sometime later include men’s views or is that not at all included in his future considerations?
Fredrik
Well, that means sometime in the future I guess... What year is it now, 2022?
itsonlyrocknroll
Women have to be genuinely part an parcel in government, holding and managing portfolios.
Not some after thought, you cook and serve we all vacant and debate the decision making process,
Not only women but the next generation. The Education system must promote political science into early learning.
Include women's views in policymaking.......
What a load of patronising condescension.
Yubaru
Kishida like his predecessors will more than likely put together an expert panel of men to discuss the issue, and come to the conclusion that there is nothing they can do to change things.
James
Just get rid of this prat already

So they aren't at the moment?
Kobe White Bar Owner
Shock horror!!! What year is it again?
smithinjapan
Nothing quite like an old man saying he's decided he'll be benevolent and include you. Definitely doesn't think he's above you or anything.
ushosh123
This is the equivalent of going to a climate crisis and telling people you will consider looking at your emission levels when creating policies.
Jeremiah
PM Kishida believes women have a different perspective from men? In other words, women are different from men?
Not very woke, is he.
Thank the Lord.
Olive
He is going to let them decide on what ingredients they put in the miso soup…onwards and upwards women of Japan..Kishida is on the job! Whoo!
deanzaZZR
Is it impolite to point out that Japan ranks #116 out of 146 ranked countries in the most recent Global Gender Gap Report?
Pukey2
Does that men men will have to make their own tea?
memoryfix
Everyone knows the term “empty suit”, right?
And everyone knows such-and-such term was “invented for” someone, right?
Okay, here he is.
Little joey
He's going to wear a skirt and clean the toilet and think from their "perspective"

Wow, that’s half the population of this country! Be careful what you wish for out-of-touch-old-elitist.
plasticmonkey
Kishida and most of his cabinet are members of Nippon Kaigi, which openly opposes equal rights for women.
The only interest he and his ilk have in empowering women is to raise GDP and tax revenue.
Kishida is a disingenuous player. Same goes for his “new capitalism” spiel. It’s all BS.
Yrral
The idea of telling a woman of her views, women make decisions that leave a lots of men dumb founded, women have opinions, that only they know about
