So it has been decided the fate of Tokyo is old people? No consideration to trying to fix it?

apart from annoying yellow blind things that make it impossible to push trolleys, japan does almost nothing for the disabled. in fact, they are kind of embarrassed about them and look the other way. i hope this event will open their eyes.

Nice smooth pathways and escalators down to subways and underground passage ways, then steep steps back up, or vice versa. Access is just not thought through and implemented fully.

And Monocle magazine voted it top? That's where most of their business comes from, they would not offend the hand that feeds them.

Chirping crosswalks, handicapped urinals, Braille on most signs, station staff carrying people when there is no elevator......I have almost never seen these things in other countries. Yet you want to point out the sidewalk marks because it inconveniences you? How can you complain about handicapped assistance then complain about Japan's lack of compassion within the same paragraph?

if Tokyo is full of old people, I'll eat my hat! Tokyo is the big magnet that attracts the nation's youth,  bleeding out the countryside.  I love the country life (no noise or congestion and freezing, cold, well water ) but cities and towns are dying off, with local economies that cannot support the circulation of funds to keep businesses alive and growing.
