"and the other saying that "land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained."

Just delete this second part. Japan has the second largest military in Asia behind China. Do away with this obvious contradiction that perpetually wastes weeks and months of constant debate.

So much double-dealing from Komeito, the thinly veiled religious (cult?) party that never met a conservative government it didn't like. Hypocritical as usual.

Omit the second paragraph and be done with it. The pacifism spirit is not lost by making it fully legal to maintain an Armed Forces... Japan should be like the Habu; reluctant to strike but ready to do so when its' back is against the wall.

Japanese people should united together to resist Abe for the revision.

History must be remembered and violence must be rejected.

The old constitution was for another time.

These are dangerous times in a dangerous area, and Japan should re invent itself with a better definition of the word strong.

Forever renouncing war is not realistic as a human species so far in our existence.

In theory, with our constitution, if America leaves us, another country could simply offensively batter Japan and all Japan could do would be to defend itself without any retaliatory strikes of its own. That's a sure way to lose slowly.

I prefer the idea of being strong enough to defend yourself and make anyone think twice about attacking you, while using that strength to promote peace and prosperity.

In modern history, Japan is the only country who invaded neighbours using brutal forces under all the good names.

If Abe refuses to learn from it, Japanese people should.

Article 9 is fine, it's all the other changes slipping in under the radar that should be discussed, personal rights, gone, loyally following the Government, the Emperor is a God. Shinto is the nations religion, women's rights gone, children's rights gone. The collective rights are superseded over an individual. Drafting young men and women into a military. These grumpy old men have no shame no brains.

Still waiting for Proof that SG/Komeito is a Cult.

Like police investigations, court cases, anything

Komeito is pretty consista:nt in their policies and is not shy to counter, critizise the LDP or distance themselves.

Nothing further to discuss here

Countless countries have invaded other countries in modern times using brutal forces. Perhaps you should clarify what you are trying to say.

Komeito my be a cult, but they are a rich and smart one. They are playing the North Korea trick. although they agree, but will say they don't, then Abe's clan will offer them some "incentives", and the they will say, "oh alright then".

"...Perhaps you should clarify what you are trying to say."

In modern history, Japan is the only country who invaded neighbours using brutal forces under all the good names but still worship those who committed the crimes.

Komeito just support the LDP as its their wages which are 10* the norm by the way. In a month these muppets earn more than most people in a year. So yes they support the LDP. God is out the window when you are making coin. Hold on to you hats these rats are ridding you down.

Really? The only? I can think of several, including the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons on another (they have more than just that brutal occurence).

pacint: "Still waiting for Proof that SG/Komeito is a Cult."

Don't hold your breath. Ask a hater for proof and they turn into a deer in headlights before scrambling to deflect. Many are honestly just scared people who know nothing about the religion or the political party. The Komeito has pushed for suffrage for long-term residents who pay taxes -- something EVERY foreigner who has lived here long enough has complained about not having. They push for better relations with China, and god forbid the Komeito gets the peace it pushes for. A number of posters on here when posed the challenge for proof you've given them can't come up with it instead ask you to prove they are not 'enablers' or whatever. I've done it countless times, and pointed out where they have kept the LDP in check, and now oppose them to the point that the LDP is considering dropping them as a coalition partner and taking on Isshin no Kai instead so it can ram through Constitutional change, but they just shut down like a computer being overloaded, and say, "I'll believe what I choose," like alternative facts.

"Komeito is pretty consista:nt in their policies and is not shy to counter, critizise the LDP or distance themselves."

Exactly, and as I just said, to the point of them likely being dropped by the LDP in the very near future. Here you have an article of them being wary of what the LDP are doing, and still people who agree with being wary question them.

@Goodlucktoyou

Likely correct here. I guess Komeito is clever the way they hold onto a bit of power. Perhaps it pleases the SG connection to have this political clout too. @amithinjapan points out some of the good they've done. Why not? I don't think they're devils. They'd better do something good for all the cash they bring in. Could you see any reason at all that some people believe they are cultish? They ARE the only way to save the world, right?
