Whose court rules? Not SK's. Not Japan's.

Go figure.

Why is Kishida going to NY ,when all of Japan, will be in the eye of a Typhoon , starting this weekend and travel over Japan for three days

JT likes to feature Japan-Korea stories. Unfortunately, none is worth reporting on the headline.

The leaders of South Korea and Japan will meet next week on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Seoul officials said Thursday, in what would be the countries' first summit in nearly three years amid tensions over history.

But in an indication of the continuing delicate nature of bilateral ties, Japan denied later Thursday that any agreement on talks had been reached.

The process looks like deja vu, doesn't it? Korea tries to make up something which Japan denies immediately. As I posted my prediction here three days ago, the summit meeting is unlikely to happen. Japan stands still in its original position: resolving history issues are now your job, and your job only.

Japanese officials may have been unhappy over South Korea's unilateral announcement of a meeting, with details likely still under discussion. It remained unclear whether Yoon and Kishida would meet next week.

Yup, once again, unnamed person from the PM's office crying out because SK "jumped" the gun and made the announcement first. More petty BS from politician's and bureaucrats!

No need to over-exaggerate reality.

Nah, not "all" of Japan, just a small portion of it, and if the potential for natural disasters is the yardstick used for determining matters of diplomacy overseas, then no PM should ever go anywhere.

Japanese, for the most part, are accustomed to the yearly typhoons, and this one, will not "hit" mainland Japan, namely Kyushu, until Sunday or Monday at the earliest.

Because LDP politicians do anything but actually lead.

Read replies and you will get a better understanding of why!

I get that there are hundreds of years of animosity between the two countries, but there are many reasons for them to work together in today's world.

Kishida got a briefing from the JMA probably about the impact of the Typhoon, why is still headed to NY,the whole island will be in the eyewall at sometimes of the storm, the most dangerous part of the storm, with power outage of maybe millions without electricity Google JMA Typhoon

Good bye Kishida. We will have a new PM by November.

Childish to the end.

Instead of focusing on the negatives why not look at the potential. Seems like the press want to find problems like they seem to be encouraging WW3

The South Korean president has long been eager to meet with the Japanese prime minister and has been far behind in cashing in the assets of Japanese companies. What are they afraid of? Are they threatened by the US?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

“We totally said we were meeting bro.”

“No, we didn’t! We may have perhaps at one stage, put across the intention to consider the possibility of having another meeting about whether we could or should meet at this juncture, if conditions are favorable and depending on A, B and C, and only of course if you telepathically understood that we really wanted D, E and F, but we haven’t decided yet so , maybe.”

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Arguing over nothing as usual. It’s not even their meeting to decide which is even funnier.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

it's unlikely that some former Korean forced laborers and their support groups will accept a deal to settle their legal battles unless the Japanese companies consent to the court decisions.

The asset liquidation is inevitable and there is nothing Yoon can do to stop it, so why not hold a meeting before the relations fall to the new bottom near Earth's core.

Oh, it was determined that the much hyped up "debt liability takeover" fund by Yoon requires that the debter(Japanese companies) ADMIT before the court they accept the judgement and are in debt before the debt liability can be taken over by a willing 3rd party(the fund), which the Japanese companies can't do so it's no good either.

Trusting South Korea. Is like trusting and making a deal with the Devil.

You signed agreements with the Devil as Final and Irreversible! Then the Devil tells you it doesn't count! Doesn't cover this or doesn't cover dreams they had last night about Japan.

Unification Church another Korean idea. Pollution, Squid Games, abusing and taking advantage of old people and single women with children. Not one apology from the Korean government! Crimes only count if Japanese did them. Koreans get complete immunity, including in the Vietnam war crimes.

Divide and rule by the West.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Yoon plan and idea for Japan

Get relations back in South Koreas favor.

Get Japan in the position which Koreans love for the past 30 years!! Revolving Door of Japanese PM giving endless apologies to the Korean, which Korea accepts today, and says No tomorrow!

Get Japan to apologies, pay compensation, OK for Koreans to Hate Japan 100% with everything they have!, BUT EXPECT FULL SUPPORT FROM JAPAN IF MILITARY CONFLICT ON KOREA PENISULA HAPPENS AGAIN!

KOREA wants it's cake to eat it, bash it, spit in it's face, humiliate at every turn, but then get maximum support, MAXIMUM HELP FROM JAPAN NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS!! KOREAN SQUID GAMES AT PLAY!!
