'Most beautiful' politician fed up with all the attention

Aomori Prefecture's Hachinohe city council member Yuri Fujikawa, 29, who recently made headlines for being "a beautiful politician," recently took part in an event in Tokyo to promote the upcoming film "State of Play." This was reportedly the councilwoman's first time to attend a movie event, and the constant flash of countless cameras was a little much for her.

Fujikawa laughed bashfully, "I think I'm about to get a nosebleed." Last month, Fujikawa was voted "World's Most Beautiful Politician" in an online survey held by Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos. The councilwoman was flattered but says she has had enough, telling reporters, "I'd really like to be finished with this whole 'too beautiful' thing already."

Based on a 6-part BBC miniseries, "State of Play" is an American political thriller centering around a newspaper reporter (Russell Crowe) investigating a scandal involving the death of a congressman's mistress and two murders.

Reporters, however, weren't interested in asking Fujikawa about the plot. Instead, they wanted to know what she thought about the sudden marriage of Hitoshi Matsumoto.

Fujikawa replied, "I'd like to find the perfect man and do the same thing myself."

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously if you are in Mars, I am sure Martians would also have their beauties in their own eyes.

Fujikawa laughed bashfully, “I think I’m about to get a nosebleed.”

You get nosebleeds from too much attention?

Wonderful off-the-wall news article. I think it was about something, but...

Isn´t there one single Japanese journalist who is embarrassed about the idiotic behaviour of his collegues?

I’d like to find the perfect man and do the same thing myself.

What, Get pregnant? Have him announce that he is embarrased?

TJrandom -- exactly. Does she really want to get knocked up outside marriage so she can be in a "delicate" situation herself? My god, do even the politicians have no greater aspirations?

Perhaps, but they probably have editors demanding they ask daft questions in order to get the 'scoops' and soundbites publishers think the public wants.

And, as you know, the local public here can't get enough talento gossip, y'know! ;)

Reporters, however, weren’t interested in asking Fujikawa about the plot.

Because these events have little to do with the product or service, and more with the human prop that fronts the show.

And - let me guess - she has no idea or interest in the movie, and was just told to turn up to face the journos.

Am I right?

Hmmm...yes?

Not much politics news today, if this is the top story? She can't complain about her getting attention because of being best beautifulist politician, or whatever she's called. That's probably why she was chosen for the position, after all.

wow, again in the news. I like this girl, she should candidate for PM. probably you remember, they wanted to kick her out of the council for making a grabia book with herself in skimpy bikinis. and with a genius explanation: "I wanted to increase the popularity of my town"

Why would a "politician" promote a movie???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

because her dream is to become tarento or aidoru. she's a politician because her dad was, so her dad's support group put her in the council. and therefore the gravure idol dreams

Timeon... Is that right??? I didn't know about her dad...

movieguy, just do some net search, you'll find plenty of info (in English too)

How did "20 minutos" find out about her? And any chance the readers voted for the exotic J-bird? surely some of Berlusconi's beauties were in the poll also?

She should be wearing that bra less uniqlo shirt like that other chick was doing in the other article. This was a brainless article.

Yeah Mittsu, I saw the website. There was a list of around 60 lady politicians from developed countries. As I understand it, the web community in Japan got organized and staged a voting campaign to get their gal to be number one (maybe via 2-channel). No other group of citizens got organized like the Japanese. So, internationally, she's virtually unknown, but in Japan extremely popular (at least as some eye candy).

Not too shabby... I think her dad was a politician... it's in her jeans.

if I were paying taxes in Aomori I'd be peeved that my local council member were spending her time making brainless comments promoting imported movies.

dennis0bauer: I agree with you completely.

Well, she looks pretty...

Most of the political figures consist of men & they are NOT beautiful, but with a woman like that. Then no question she is ATTRACTIVE.

press turn up for the tarento. movie promoter hopes the movie poster will slip into a few of the shots. like that star trek promotion last week. the journalists get back to the office and notice there are a bunch of gaijins in the background of their shot
