Do not bring your political problem to Japan.

If only the military also join the protest and this would have been a done deal.

I highly doubt the military would protest against themselves.

Do not bring your political problem to Japan.

I, a Japanese, welcome their rightful protest in our land. Many of us support their cause. Hope many people in the world join them.

From international, geopolitical perspective, things are more complicated than they appear in media and public discourses.

Suu Kyi was considered too close to Beijing, and their relationship must have disturbed the military officials who wanted to keep some distance and autonomy from its big northern neighbor.

I suggest that Suu Kyi volunteer to retire from politics in exchange of release. A democratic Myanmar will need a fresh and capable leader.

Foreigners protesting on the streets of Tokyo will only be tolerated for so long, names will be noted and some may have problems when it comes to visa renewal time.

When myanmar army killed and raped İNNOCENT ROHİNGYA PEOPLE??

That's a complicated subject. Just across the border in Bangladesh, innocent Buddhists were also raped and killed, and the effect was an ethnic cleansing where formerly diverse Bangladesh became a predominantly Muslim country. Doubtless, the Buddhists in Myanmar, many of them refugees from Bangladesh, don't want that repeated in their country. So they reacted in kind. Not saying it's right, but spread the blame fairly.

Also, Bangladesh is not welcoming the refugees, despite them being Muslim brothers and sisters.

In the end, lots of innocent people suffer from intolerance.

They are not even affected here for five seconds. Someone stop that crazy virus cluster immediately!

Can someone explain, why they protest in Tokyo?

Because they are living in Japan, and the Myanmar embassy is in Tokyo.

Suu Kyi is a western stooge, bought and paid for by the US and UK.

I'd like to see "real" democracy in Myanmar but its not going to happen any time soon, with or without the sold out lady.

The foreigners disturbing the locals. This is also one of the reason why Japan don't want the dual citizenship because they are taking advantages and controlling the local citizens.

Any foreigners who protest about their country problem should be immediately deported. Let the locals live in peace.

Why are they protesting here? Japan has nothing to do with what's going on in Myanmar. The only thing they will achieve is to annoy the locals.

Peaceful protest is legal in Japan. However, looking at the photograph, these protesters don't seem to be social distancing.

@ Toasted Heretic

If those people have family problem, would they share their neighbors and protest in front of their area? No! So their country has a problem, Why bothering other country?

You may say/think you can do protest without violence. But you never know the violence may occur at anytime, anywhere to anybody.

Foreigners like those people are taking advantage. They are demanding every rights and benefits..even more than what locals can have.

Those protesters are locals but i don't mind if foreigners involve because Olympic is an international event.

But this Myanmar problem is Not related to Japan and Japanese and they cannot solve the problem and they are not the one to solve as well.

Remember, if those protesters protest in other Asian countries such as India, Malaysia etc. They will be beaten. So it's not good at all about these protests in foreign country

Political activism can get you deported

Who will take names? Who (apart from some disgruntled types online) will not tolerate them?

Protests against regimes is a good thing and I welcome it. We have protests in my home country, as well. If we didn't, I'd wonder why the government would try and stop them.

Dear Suu Kyi,

You've been in power for how long? 20 years!

5 years.

Women in power, feminist don't want me to judge, don't judge woman especially when they make mistakes.

Which Man will rescue Suu Kyi. As always.

Misogynistic tripe. Many of us are bitterly disappointed at her compliance with the horrific treatment of the Rohingya but it has zero to do with her gender.

After the military has been deposed, she should be held accountable for her inaction in regards to the ethnic cleansing - as any "leader" should, no matter what their sex is.

If only the military also join the protest and this would have been a done deal. What they should do is appeal to the families of these military soldiers who are following order of a dictator. Is always the military and the police force which are the biggest obstacles for great chances in a nation.

Stay strong Myanmar.

USA admits it is funding protests. My advise is to just accept a better life.

I live in japan with a basically one party rule. But I don’t do anything bad, I’m not shot, standard of living is great-ish.

Burmese should focus more on the benefits of a strong govt and the Belt and Road.

How are they bothering you?

You have no problems with Japanese protests against holding the Olympic Games.

Aren't you worried about violence from those protesters, or is it just foreign ones that unsettle you?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

But this Myanmar problem is Not related to Japan and Japanese and they cannot solve the problem and they are not the one to solve as well.

So, we should just accept coups, genocides, wars, apartheid? Because it doesn't affect us directly?

That's isolationist, at the very least.

When the tsunami/earthquake/Fukushima disaster occurred, people from all over the world cared. We donated and held fundraisers for Japan.

Because that's what people do.

We're an international community.

It didn't affect us directly in the West, but our humanity shone through.

Isn't it important to help and empathise with our fellow humans?

Luckily, this isn't the DPRK and we can protest about whatever issue we please. As long as we're not committing violent acts or threatening people, natch.

People protest because it brings the concerns to a wider audience. Be it about apartheid, Palestine/Israel, US military bases, genocide, or any number of atrocities committed by other countries.

This is also one of the reason why Japan don't want the dual citizenship because they are taking advantages and controlling the local citizens.

Who is being taken advantage of? How? Who is controlling who?

I, a Japanese citizen, do not welcome their political protest in our land. I do not know anyone who knows anything about Myanmar or their problems. I hope I were in Tokyo so I could walk through that crowd while yelling "じゃま".

Dear Suu Kyi,

You've been in power for how long? 20 years!

You made no preparations.

No protection, no bodyguards, so easy to take you away.

You had no spies to give you warning.

You did not track this generals movements or intentions.

Big plot to take you down by the military, many people involved, You did not hear anything?

No tracking of their phones, internet, nothing.

Women in power, feminist don't want me to judge, don't judge woman especially when they make mistakes. That's exactly what Suu Kyi did! Mistake after mistake.

Will Biden help. Rescue Suu Kyi.

Will Xi do it, they met last year.

Will Putin do it.

Which Man will rescue Suu Kyi. As always.
