It is time Japan shoot down anything from NK close or above Japan.

They will next fire a new rocket above Japan.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

I really think that NK is making a very big and bad mistake that would cost everyone their lives. I am against war, but if they keep provoking a war with countries who have no real reason to start a war, then in retaliation, an example should be made. Japan has many countries in its corner to back them up, where as NK, maybe Russia? NK has been holding a false grudge for more than 50 years. I fear they are making a horrible mistake.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

I'm inclined to believe that Sir LanceALot is Correct. It's likely Russia would point it's own towards NK, if that time came.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

It was launch in the far western district of NK. It cross NK west to East and in clear areas would have been seen by all in NK. Know doubt that the population would be inform of the fireworks display and be very proud. Great Propaganda for the NK ruler. Next week you will find Kim dolls holding a missile to ad to the propaganda.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

TumbleDry: They have already done that a few years back

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Has President Donald Trump appointed an Ambassador to Japan? Or does diplomacy consist of a empty chair and an answer machine?

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

I really don't think that Japan or the US is going to allow that to happen. An ICBM will probably be shot off the pad before launch if Trump is any indicator. I doubt the Japanese would allow a flyover. What the fools think they are going to accomplish with this besides making the docile population adore the third fatty more while they starve.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Li'l Dumplin has always got a carrot when he was really bad. The past few years the carrots have not been coming. He is just following a learned behavior; be bad and get rewarded. He is going to have to have a major paradigm shift before he changes his ways. Maybe an introduction to a cruise missile?.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

One day the little fat boy's missle (s) will malfunction and then all hell will break loose. The USA should issue a statement that any more launches will be destroyed a few seconds into flight and the debris will fall onto those idiots. Someone needs to take out kim jong un and liberate the innocent people he has enslaved. Only problem will be what to do with the millions of brainwashed masses. How can they adjust to the real world. Who will run the country, their military or riotous masses seeking food and revenge. I hope Japan can avoid another nuclear holocaust.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Japan, US, China, South Korea must all agree to a course of action that will genuinely deter Pyongyang and influences the regime to relinquish its nuclear weapons. The Government of China is part of the way, there with energy import sanctions.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

these missiles will never reach Japan in any given test since they cannot travel longer than their given ammount of fuel and launch angle. Its North Korea and they will never make a Mistake that will trigger a mass attack from Japan-USA

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

"Its North Korea and they will never make a Mistake that will trigger a mass attack from Japan-USA"

kiyoshi: How can you be so confident NK will not make a mistake? Can South Korea, Japan, or the US afford to ignore a "mistaken" missile with a potential nuke zeroing in on them?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

An ICBM will probably be shot off the pad before launch if Trump is any indicator.

No. Then why didnt he shoot them down now. That's because the motive is unknown. Unless they are a serious threat to Japan maybe then Drumpf or MarioAbe will act. Lets hope it doesnt come to that.

But it looks like NK is testing their limit, each and every time a missile is getting closer to Japan. They will screw up in the future and then we will have some extra parking space between China and SK

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

A really, really good reason to have the US bases move OUT OF OKINAWA!

-13 ( +7 / -20 )

Japan has claimed the entire Sea of Japan anonymously by airing threats of North Korean missles firing were a threat of her secutity. If you believe their propaganda you stuck in the hoax they fabricated.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A really, really good reason to have the US bases move OUT OF OKINAWA!

Oh, now more than ever, it will never, ever happen.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

The photos appeared in the state-run Rodong newspaper and were apparently taken at an "emergency meeting" early on Friday morning. They show Kim signing the order for North Korea's strategic rocket forces to be on standby to fire at US targets, the paper said, with large-scale maps and diagrams in the background.

The images show a chart marked "US mainland strike plan" and missile trajectories that the NK News web site estimates terminate in Hawaii, Washington DC, Los Angeles and what they claim is Austin, Texas.

training exercise for strike on U.S. bases in Japan

and why this country hasn't been bombed/freed/invaded yet?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Someone needs to take out kim jong un

They found Bin Laden in some shack in the middle of Pakistan and Sadam in some underground tunnel. How hard would it be to get to North Korea?

I worry more though about how brainwashed the people of North Korea are and we don't know if they feel like slaves or just serving their god. If the latter, we here will be sitting ducks in Japan.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Always like to "be safe" in the face that a missile can be shot down before it reaches its target but then I think about last year when NK announced they were testing a missile. Japan said we are ready... and they didnt even know a missile had been fired. It was on cnn before they knew about it. Gulp.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

and why this country hasn't been bombed/freed/invaded yet?

You mean why haven't we done that thing that we are condemning them for, even though they haven't done it?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

They found Bin Laden in some shack in the middle of Pakistan and Sadam in some underground tunnel. How hard would it be to get to North Korea?

Much harder. Bin Laden wasn't the leader of a country's army.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Kim Jong Un is just looney enough to try but I doubt it, they might want to keep an eye on trumpy though to make sure he doesn't accidentally use the launch codes!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

As always DPRK causes both concern and hilarity. L'il Kim "supervised" did he? Like a little kid proudly lighting the fuse of his first Bonfire night rocket. And as if they could target anything as small as a US base. Be lucky to hit any of the Japanese islands........ Agree L'il is not Bin Lade. and similar tactics to those in the Middle East will not work in DPRK.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

As long as they don't target innocent Japanese citizens, then I guess it is the same as what America, Saudi, Israel do, so, how about settle down and make friends.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Where are they getting the rocket fuel from?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Madelicious sadly most rocket fuel comes from fertilizers and you cannot cancel a country fertilizer.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

ThunderbirdMar. 07, 2017 - 10:31AM JST and why this country hasn't been bombed/freed/invaded yet?

Because China protects North Korea from foreign attack in accordance with a 1961 treaty. See those huge multi-axle trucks carrying missiles? Guess who provided them to North Korea as "Construction Vehicles" to circumvent UN sanctions.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Just one of America's 75 nuclear submarines can turn their entire country into glass in under 5 minutes. The real threat NKorea poses to anyone is SKorea.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This Bloke and his Dad really like the easy living, His Grand Dad and Dad were big on propaganda. Kim un will not do anything stupid but keep the world wondering what he is doing. If he commit to a attack on anyone Kim cushy life will be no longer. He will have no were to go. No he will keep up the propaganda until he dies just like his dad.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Thunderbird: "and why this country hasn't been bombed/freed/invaded yet?"

Because it would be WWIII. First, NK would be able to annihilate most of SK and parts of Japan. Second, in the ensuing chaos China would take it's cue to either go into NK and scoop up the land or else just defend them by supporting any attacks on American military. They would also use the chance to go into Taiwan. Russia would join in at some point, also wanting a land grab (perhaps Hokkaido, finally?).

It would accelerate pretty quickly.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Honestly there needs to be a US Ambassador assigned to Japan, I understand this is a political appointment, and William Hagerty was chosen for the post. Maybe I am missed something.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The missiles travelled about 1,000 kilometers .and reached an altitude of 260 kilometers, a spokesman for South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Altitude of 260 kilometers? I think that's a typo.

The saddest thing is, this loon (little Jon) is crazy enough to launch an attack on US bases in Japan. Something needs to be done to stop this idiot. I don't agree that sanctions are the answer. They only hurt the already impoverished and starving people of NK. And, China's objection to Korea's defense is way out of line. China needs to butt out of the North Korea argument altogether.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

US, Japan, S Korea along with China are not going to attack N Korea. They are not interested in killing N Korean People.no more WW. Whether you like or not, those countries will try to. Persuade Kim to stoq ITCH projects. China mentioned it will return Chinese Sky back to blue. It says smog created by burning coal will be stopped. So, not just this year but coming years, it is unlikely China will purchase N Korean coals. Along with Mitsubishi and Sanyo, Chinese companies are largest Solar energy panel developers in USA. There are kidnapped Japanese in NK and many SK people have relatives in NK. Bombing NK is Nott the Solution.

I was stationed at Misawa Air Base in 1998 when NK tested to see if it could reach Japan with its missile technology. The single missile not only passed the test but exceeded in flying over Japan entirely. As you can imagine there was a full recall of personnel and I honestly thought we were about to go to fire up the jets, bombers, helicopters, etc. to go to war. What went through my mind is I still haven't had a life with a family to nurture. But that was a passing thought as I knew why I voluntarily joined the USAF to defend my country and her allies if called upon. If called upon, I would have put my life and died to defend Japan not just my base. After I lived in Japan, I found myself loving the (predominantly) honorable people of Japan.

In times like these, I hope the people of Japan can appreciate that the USA is there to help Japan defend its sovereignty. Not all the dirt-bag Americans that show up in crime news speak for the majority of Americans. I believe the majority of people world-wide want to be good. It is just the bad ones, that spotlight the news. Moving on, unlike the other bases in Japan, there were very few problems between Misawa Air Base personnel and the civilian population. I ask the good people of Japan to recognize there are honorable military personnel in Japan to protect you. Some don't even want to be in Japan but do their duty.

What disgusts me is people like Strangerland who writes essays on matters of a country he is not even from as if it were his own and consistently insults those that serve in the military, Japanese or American. Although he is most likely a pimple-faced child claiming to own a company, if his life were under the muzzle of a gun, I would do all I could to save his life.

God Bless America and God Bless Japan! USAF

I hope that both the Governments of Japan and American continue to see commit fully the U.S.-Japan alliance little doubt it is in both countries interests, especially in time like these. It is rhetoric like “tasked to strike the bases of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in Japan in contingency”, that proves the alliance deters.

What the Master Devils sowed.....they reap.

The U.S. needs Japan as it needs Israel in the middle east. North Korea has one legitimate axe to grind, and that's the U.S. yearly maneuvers near it's waters. You do have to imagine how your country would react if this was going on near them.

NK is all but a proxy of China, and does as commanded, such missile drills have the blessings of majority in both the Korea's and the Chinese, the wounds are just very very deep..

"The measures include the planned deployment to South Korea of a missile defense system called THAAD, which has infuriated China, the North’s key diplomatic ally and crucial to efforts to persuade it to change its ways."

The THAAD is a HIGH ALTITUDE defense system but North Korea still does NOT have missiles of that range, The Dong class ( Tae-po-dong,No-dong e.t.c) are all LOW ALTITUDE. Is it any wonder that China and Russia think that the THAAD system is meant for them? That it's coming up in S.Korea means they are being check-mated in that front , and I guess this is the reason Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu placed the s-400s missiles in the Kuriles/ N.Territories, Should the THAAD or its variants be placed in Japan, it would mean that Russia's encirclement is complete. In the North Arctic, It's in contention with the US. Canada, Iceland and a slew of other countries, in the West it's NATO and the baltic states of Lithuania , Latvia ,Estonia, Poland , Finland,Sweden e.t.c all of whom have ratcheted up the heat and are in a war-ready state much more than in the Cold war era. North Korea is really but only one of the many potential powder-kegs in our race to armageddon.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

If that is the best they have, the need to make massive improvements. NK if overlooking the significance of its ranting and raving towards Japan. That the US has bases in Japan is irrelevant, and overlooking a much more dangerous foe. Just because a tiger is sleeping inside a cage does not mean that its claws are not sharp.

If ever there was a time for Japan and South Korea to build bridges, that time is now. South Korea is going to be hurt economically and perhaps militarily by China due to THAAD. Not that they had any other option given the circumstances.

Hopefully other countries can also play a role in helping South Korea.

Kim: Let's launch a surprise attack on US bases in Japan

General: Yes sir! Great idea sir!

Kim: What's the problem?

General: We've fired all our missiles into the Japan Sea.

Kim: We have nothing left to shoot in Japan's direction?

General: We could dust off the old slingshots we used to use......

The target is not a US base. There's too many bases for the amount of rockets they have online to begin with. In addition, NK knows its surrounded by submarines. NK has zero chance of neutralizing the sub fleet. They face certain defeat after their 1st and only strike. Therefore, logic dictates that, they 'swing for the fences'. The maximum damage to Japan by a 1st strike can be done by hitting the Fukushima Nuclear complex.

The fatty boy won’t be stopping doing stupid things until someone has stopped him completely. The S.Korea, Japan and US are wasting too much times by negotiation with N. Korean dictators. I believe they can't afford wasting more times now and they need to decide seriously for do something with Fatty boy. It will be trouble for everyone when he can put nuclear warhead in missiles. The sanction won’t be stopped N. Korea regime from developing and putting nuclear warhead in Missiles.

Referring to Kim Jong-Un with derogatory references to his physical appearance is offensive to all people who appear to be overweight. Those that do it show themselves to be what they really are and their comments on more serious political situations should be ignored.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un must be well aware that his military is no match in a war for U.S. military power. So would he dare launch Rodong and Scud-C missiles against Japan or Taepodong-3 missiles against the United States, knowing that such an action would mean the annihilation of his regime and the country?

Do North Korea's simultaneous firings on March 6 of four missiles as simulation of saturation attacks mean that Kim Jong-un is preparing to attack Japan and the U.S. in anytime soon, oblivious of the fact that it would result in the annihilation of his regime and the country?

Sources reveal that U.S.-developed missile defense systems such as PAC-3 and THAAD cannot deal with saturation attacks – simultaneous launchings of missiles overwhelming the enemy’s defense capability. So, maybe, the North Korean threat has indeed entered a new level of threat as P.M. Abe says. But, if so, then it's time to rethink the U.S. military realignment in Japan in which the Futenma-to-Henoko relocation plan takes center stage. The whole project has now turned out as sheer nonsense. Can anyone claim now that the Henoko relocation is absolutely necessary to maintain deterrence when U.S. bases in Japan are all vulnerable to North Korean (as well as Chinese) missile attacks?
