Usual hypocrisy from fat boys kingdom of misery and despair.

Its ok for them to develope long range missiles and nuclear weapons to threaten their neighbours, that’s not destabilising, but obtaining non nuclear counter strike weapons in defensive reaction is? Hypocrisy.

NATO is a defensive organisation and none of the members have the capability to project power on a large scale to the Pacific region save only the USA which is a Pacific power anyway.

What the connection with the democratic countries in NATO brings is moral, political and technological support in the face of the growing threat from the undemocratic triumvirate of dictatorships Japan has the misfortune to have on their back door.

North Korea should be more concerned about the possibility of South Korea going nuclear in the near future.

Japan's not pacifist or only being defensive

Jumping the gun there sport. Until Japan is directly involved in a conflict, or starts one, it remains pacifist. Switzerland maintains a modern Military but its neutral and pacifist. Simply getting modern arms does not alter its stance, only using them first would change its designation from pacifist.

"introducing NATO, a legacy of the Cold War, into the Asia-Pacific region" and such a behavior is "sowing the seeds of discord" in the region,

Expanding the NATO model of joint defense is stabilizing as for one it ensures members do not war with each other. It also makes clear that attacking any member will be responded to by all members, dissuading any attacks at all. It is a model for the entire planet. Perhaps a few tweaks could be made, but it is basically a good thing and the best way to eventually unify the world to make it free of wars, ensure freedom and sovereignty for people everywhere and those who revert to unacceptable behavior are banned until they reform.

We are one species and we are better when we work together.

With time, NATO might evolve itself into an organisation that includes Japan, Australia, New Zealand and possibly also South Korea.

NK can shout their hypocritical nonsense as much as they like. But with threats from themselves and China, it wouldn't be all that surprising to see a reorganised NATO that involves the US' Pacific allies.

China is neither qualified nor trustworthy enough to lead anything.
