N Korean official urges Japan to apologize over forced labor

Koreans are very proud people so they can't say help me, instead they blame you and demand apology and compensation. Once you apologize even though you did nothing wrong because you thought it was easier to deal with them, you will be blackmailed forever.

A beyond ridiculous headline. You need to either harbor some serious hatred towards Japan and its people in the present day or be in total denial about the prevalence of forced labor in present-day North Korea to believe the North Korean government has any legitimate grounds for urging Japan to apologise for the use of forced labor in the past.

Coming from a country that right now force their own citizens into forced labor and concentration camps such as manual labor in other countries such as in Middle East, Africa and Russia is kinda ironic.

Well, that’s a fail! Japan has paid compensation to both Koreas several times, but every decade or so one of these idiots pops up and demands more money. The DPRK is only interested in getting cash so they can buy more weapons from China and Russia. Compensation goes to the victims and their families. It doesn’t go to a pathetic regime of money grubs. Even South Korea has been paid, but they used the money to build roads and trains. The victims got bugger all!

They won't accept it. Can't say when but I remember there was some kind of fund that Japan was making for compensation but South Koreans wouldn't accept it because it was not the government. Fast forward in time, the government creates a fund (Park administration) and now that fund's frozen coz they don't want it either.

I seriously cannot believe South Korea is joining forces with that evil government. What happened with all the people defecting from the North, their stories and ordeals, their families left behind most likely in forced labor camps or dead, the public executions and the tons of North Korean boats that show up adrift in the northern coasts of Japan? Their missiles flying over nations without any warnings provoking wars, their nukes and chemical weapons, assassinations abroad? Isn't South Korea a free nation, and now want to join forces with a dictator??? What the heck? All of a sudden all (very recent and present) is forgotten and for what, just so they can continue their propaganda for what happened almost 80 years ago.

Don't apologize. Just flat out say, "We aren't going to apologize because it's just a way for foreign activists to try and leach money from our taxpayers. Now what?"

Abe and co will continue to deny anything wrong was done, then turn around and demand to know why there is no forward progress on the abduction issue, asking the UN and other world bodies to hurry up and apply more pressure so Japan can finally get the issue resolved like Abe promised it would be.

YET suddenly ypu forget missiles flying over our nation and now Associated Press and Reuters will somehow make North Korea be the victim, all is magically forgotten.

I agee, that second statement is inflammatory nonsense that just hurts their case.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the earlier settlements between Japan and Korea only applied to the South. I suppose that it would not hurt to offer the North a similar apology now with Abe's desire to negotiate with them. Of course that would most likely fire up the South again to want more from Japan as well, so it's a double edged sword.

First part I agree with, the second, highly improbable and just more propaganda!

There are some here in Japan that don't see a need to apologize for anything with regards to the forced employment issue. To them those workers were not Korean, they were Japanese, as Japan had colonized the country. It's one of the reasons that so many were interred at Yasukuni too, they weren't "foreigners".

To these businesses, at the time, they were just using the "citizens" of the country. Like they did at first down here too!
