Russia, they are not the one who responsible in making that happen. What Japan really need to ensure that country that responsible for that tragedy to show up during that anniversary event.

But the AMERICAN ambassador will be invited?? And an event that is ostensibly an observation of PEACE is allowed to be debased by POLITICAL considerations? Aw, Nihon, how disgustingly America kabure you have become...

This decision is made according the current situation.

Russia is a massmurdering, killing innocent man, women and children, raping young women country, which is the biggest threat to the world peace.

A country, who starts a war and invaded its neighbour country, and brings the biggest suffer and sorrow to the people, and is also willing to use nuclear weapons, should be not invited to any event all over the world anymore!

Very good decision Japan!

3 ( +18 / -15 )

Is there a necessity for this event in the first place.

-10 ( +10 / -20 )

Russia is a massmurdering, killing innocent man, women and children, raping young women country, which is the biggest threat to the world peace.

Just parroting the same garbage news that all the other main stream news wrote virtually word for word. Evidence from reporters on the ground in Ukraine give a completely different story.

-10 ( +12 / -22 )

The only ones in the world who bombed Japan with atomic weapons are invited but the ones who didn't use any nuclear weapons on Japan are not invited.

-9 ( +13 / -22 )

Evidence from reporters on the ground in Ukraine give a completely different story.

Sure, Russia War Propaganda BS News!

The Real Reporters on the ground in the Ukraine, who shows real reports and pictures, reports from the millions of Ukraine refugees, reports from women who got raped from the russian army, reports from the millions of Ukraine refugees who lost everything and their loved ones got killed by the russian mass murdering mob, and so on... they tell and proof the Real picture what the Russian mass murdering Mob is doing in the Ukraine.

Russia must be isolated from the rest of the world and they must be punished as hard as possible for what they did and what they are still doing in the Ukraine.

2 ( +16 / -14 )

japan should go a step further and tell the Russian ambassador to pack his bags and go home. Then tell him he can only return when Russia ceases in its pathetic and doomed attempt to take over Ukraine. Oh, and he’ll need to take a pcr test too.

1 ( +15 / -14 )

and tell the Russian ambassador to pack his bags and go home.

Tell that to everyone who supports the russian mass murdering Mob and what they are doing in the Ukraine!

Everyone who cheer up and support this insane Madman Putin and his followers should pack their bags.

Because it is easy to cheer up an as...le like Putin if you are living in a western country and enjoy all the comfort of the western life.

If they got send back to Russia, their tone will completely change immediately.

I absolutely do not understand that there are still people around who supports Russia and what they are doing in the Ukraine.

This madness goes on now since three months.

And now people, chidren in different countries of the world are starving because the Russian as...les are blocking the Grain delivery. Children who are zero related to this war are starving because of Russia!

How in the world can somebody support that???

Putin and his foreign ministers and spokesmen are nonstop telling the world that they are ready and willing to use nuklear weapons, and even so people are still supporting them, and additional are whining that they are not invited to Nagasaki?

What the hell is wrong with these people???

Russia is too busy taking the Dombas and other Russia speaking and cultural areas to care about a pointless political event held to show Japan as victims.

-1 ( +14 / -15 )

The only ones in the world who bombed Japan with atomic weapons are invited but the ones who didn't use any nuclear weapons on Japan are not invited.

The whole motto of Nagasaki events is to make it the last city in the world victim of nuclear weapons, this means holding a grudge is contrary to the message, on the other hand receiving representatives of countries that are currently threatening to use the weapons is obviously against it.

7 ( +15 / -8 )

I couldn't help but scoff a slight giggle apon reading this announcement.

You think Russia actually cares if the unfriendly nation status nation invites them to a victims party ?

Russia doesn't care !

Japan's expansion efforts in the Pacific and Asia is what caused the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Japanese invasion of Taiwan was the beginning of the colonization expansion efforts.

Meanwhile now the Japanese government is raising prices and taxes to spend on preemptive strike ability and more lethal weapons including nuclear weapons.

Japan still has stockpile of chemical and biological weapons.

Don't forget what happened Nanjing and Korea atrocities.

Ceramic bombs filled will plagues and gifts of infected candy.

I think any country that doesn't give a nod to the anti-nuclear war sentiments that are inscribed on the cenotaph in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park or that will surely be struck home in peace memorial services to be held in both cities on August 6 and 9 shouldn't be invited.

Should Japan's central government, that is seeking the U.S. nuclear umbrella proactively, be invited to the memorial services then?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

No, also or especially all the ones with most available nuclear arms and proven aggressive behavior shouldn’t be ignored but invited to remember them and show them how crazy and bad their mindset is still after several decades of first occurrence. It’s unbelievable that the abolishment of those weapons hasn’t still taken place after 77 years!

Is there a single day in the Japanese calendar that isn't devoted to the memory of some Japanese "victim/tragedy" or another?

In other news, today marks the 6th anniversary of (fill in the tragedy). Also the 9th anniversary since (fill in the tragedy). Oh, and don't forget that it is also the 31st anniversary of (fill in the tragedy)!

Poor, poor Japan. Always a victim...but why? Nobody knows. Nobody says. Nobody learns about it at school. And nobody cares to admit. I can't seem to find the "why" in any of the scores of Japanese "historical" memorial "museums", anywhere in Japan, certainly not in Hiroshima or Nagasaki...it's as if those bombs just dropped from the sky on day, on an absolutely innocent country...for absolutely no reason at all...

WASUREINAI !! Or, as George Santana pointed out: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Memorial Day? Why? When all America does is send out more young people to their precocious and bloody ends, or as the largest Corporate provider to others of the murderous means to do so, or as the most pernicious influence on the planet influencing hostilities amongst Humans, how does America ignore the SHAME of PRETENDING to care about all those it destroys while it swills alcohol and gorges on lard? And how can someone with CLEARLY NO KNOWLEDGE OF, nor concern for, another country's tragedies judge that country? Clinically psychopathic ARROGANCE. Why?

They could have taken the opportunity to invite everyone as a symbol of global peace.

Instead, they allowed it to become politicized, which diminishes the message.

Considering that it is a symbol of world peace and the globally shared hope that nuclear weapons will never be used again, why should the representative of the country that just threatened the use of nuclear weapons be invited?

Russia is too busy taking the Dombas and other Russia speaking and cultural areas to care about a pointless political event held to show Japan as victims.

Up to 200,000 Japanese civilians were undeniably "victims". Just like the civilians in Ukraine who are getting bombed by your friends today.

And like the Ukrainian citizens who were getting bombed by your friends, the Ukrainians, their own citizens, for the last 7 years.

Japanese invasion of Taiwan was the beginning of the colonization expansion efforts.

No invasion, Taiwan was handed over from China to Japan in accordance with the Treaty of Shimonoseki 1895.

Meanwhile now the Japanese government is raising prices and taxes to spend on preemptive strike ability and more lethal weapons including nuclear weapons.

No nuclear weapons in the news. Where are you getting this nonsense?

Japan still has stockpile of chemical and biological weapons.

Let us know where and how much. Again where are you pulling this out of?

Don't forget what happened Nanjing and Korea atrocities.

There were no atrocities in Korea. Korea was part of the Empire of Japan from 1910 and Koreans served in the Japanese military invading other Asian nations.

" His talents as an officer were swiftly recognized and he was one of the few Koreans allowed to attend the Japanese Imperial Military Academy near Tokyo. He was subsequently posted to a Japanese Army regiment in Manchuria and served there until Japan’s surrender at the end of World War II."

Japan, a then-fascist ally, decides not to invite Russia? Oh, Japan.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

I understand them not inviting Putin to the Hiroshima ceremony -- Putin is the one who declared war in Ukraine, but the ambassador did not. This is just plain old cowardice. If other leaders voiced their concern Japan should say, "We invite everyone, because we wish everyone to live in peace. Attend or not, that is up to each person's discretion". But nope... worried about how they'll look.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Japan was the aggressor. They acknowledge that. The bombings right or wrong is what it is. These events have always been political and it’s bad PR for Japan if they invite Russia.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

And now people, chidren in different countries of the world are starving because the Russian as...les are blocking the Grain delivery. Children who are zero related to this war are starving because of Russia!

Totally false ! Ukraine had mined the black sea with the result that ships are not able to come to port to load any wheat for fear of being sunk. Insurance companies have said that they will not pay out insurance on any ships that are damaged or sunk as a result of the mining.

Putin also made a public statement that as they have mine sweeping ships, they can escort any shipping that needs to carry grain .

I absolutely do not understand that there are still people around who supports Russia and what they are doing in the Ukraine.

That is because you believe the garbage news from the West and are ignorant of the atrocities of the Nazi militias who imbedded themselves in to the Ukraine government and military. Also, learn the history between Ukraine and Russia especially since 2014.

The true reports coming from Ukraine are from Western reporters, , mainly USA. These are people who actually live in Ukraine. Many of their reports can be found even on YouTube now.

Exactly

A bomb dropped on Nagasaki was not made in USSR,so Russia or Belarus are off topic in any case.

Wondering how some people can loose memory easy....?

It's a sensible decision considering the clear and open nuclear threats emanating from the Kremlin these days.

They're stupid fools with a big mouth.

Your tv tuned into Russian channels no doubt.

This undermines the message of peace.

Bad move by japan.

Japan who resides comfortably under the American nuclear umbrella shouldn't even invite themselves to their victimhood mentality rallies.
