Clever. Made me smile. And it was not against the rules? Very clever indeed. Now I'm chortling.

First the "homeless unemployed" candidate, and now the "Naked Nationalist", they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Kimoi!

Made in Japan.

At first I thought it was amusing. But then I remembered, as the people become more and more disillusioned with the established parties, they will find extremists and complete outsiders more attractive. Even I feel that way - anybody who can shake things up is good. Yet, history shows that leaders who shake things up are usually demagogues, and don't turn out well.

Considering that he had lost the last four local elections, he's running on a losing "streak".

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Well at least he is young enough to still look good naked. I doubt any of the older candidates will copy his style. Does the come under the heading of not hiding anything? [Grin]

Such a guy can't be elected. He is one of the frivolous candidates. The deposit will be confiscated because of few votes.

Politics aside it is a pretty cool poster.

However I doubt it would be quite as popular if they put Abe on it! It reminds me a lot of the Nazi propaganda featuring tall, athletic, blond-haired, blue-eyed young men when in reality most of the top leadership didn't measure up to the same heroic proportions.

This may seem like a petty point, but it underscores the hypocrisy inherent in the senior nationalists' agenda. They won't be the ones fighting and dying, it'll be Japan's (increasingly scarce) younger generation.

That is the best election poster I have seen in Japan. However, due to its design, it is hard to see what his point is!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This is frankly obscene!

Not the nudity. I am okay with nudity. Its the nationalism that is obscene along with that brandished weapon; a threat of violence. Two truly disgusting and obscene messages! I could not care one wit about the nudity. Why is the nudity even so much as a side issue?

Japan's 'Monster Raving Loony Party' candidate ?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Mishima revisited.

I don't think the poster will help him in his erection campaign.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

He has a very small manifesto.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Novel poster-loser candidate.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I think someone should ask Abe if they can have some of his whitewash.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

if this is what Japan has come too in terms of candidates, I seriously fell sorry for its future

@wtf

I don't see how Japan is any worse than other countries. In England we've got Screaming Lord Sutch. America had George W. The joke candidates are everywhere.

It is a shame he didn't take the opportunity to protest the obscene obscenity law.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

"Staid" affairs? Does that include the hysterical screaming from soundtrucks that pollute the air for two weeks with the sort of shouting that is best left for the former leaders of the Japanese Imperial Army?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I remember that the artist who produced a canoe in the shape of her vagina is now embroiled in the legal system on charges of obscenity. How about this guy?

Much more original than the New Komeito cars driving around my house constantly and blaring their introductions trough loud speakers as if they've lost their mind.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

This should be an interesting erection season to watch...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

His poster will lose to PETA photo(s) !

CGB Spender: "Much more original than the New Komeito cars driving around my house constantly and blaring their introductions trough loud speakers as if they've lost their mind."

Those Komeito people are the only ones who have pushed for suffrage for permanent foreign residents, and you being a foreigner living here might appreciate the right to vote some day in the future. But hell, go ahead and instead cast a non-vote for this freak who would see to it you not only never get the vote, but wouldn't have a voice to praise him for it, either.

I wonder if the guy will do the samurai thing and fall on the sword when he loses.... again.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I hope he doesn't cut off any important parts with that sword:)

politics needs to be a serious business, because it deals with the problems of the millions of people, but this man takes it like a variety show, this is not the showup or PR, this is your ability and your thinking which will matter in this field.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I think the sword is a substitute for something else hes lacking.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well, at last something to generate interest in the erection!

Do you want to borrow my glasses?

Most politicians are. Shocker!

Lighten up, Tina.

Meh. But I saw worse things from right-wingers around the world, like the poster of a right-wing party in Switzerland where Italians were drawns like rats that eat cheese (in Switzerland right-wingers think Italians steal jobs to their people). Right-wingers are like that everywhere...

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

There is a part of him on display that perfectly sums up what this right wingers views make him..... it rhymes with 'rock'

0 ( +0 / -0 )

trying to "shake" things up around eretion day. Mishima Yukio would be proud.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is this about an election or an erection?
