Japanese Nationalists and Militarists still repeat worthless faultfinding against ICAN.

why first visit was Japan,

because Nagasaki and Hiroshima are Japanese City.

Japanese government and Ruling Party,on the excuse of North Korea's threat, did nothing but vindicate US military policy.

Japanese nationalists and Authoritarians want Nuclear Weapon.

Triring, would you ask Abe to sign first ? Then I will give you an official answer.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Augggh, NK, Hello!?

It's going to be pretty hard to get a country who has nuclear weapons to agree to a ban on theme if you don't have a ban in place yourself.

Augggh, NK, Hello!?

I guess some people doesn't follow the news here,,,,,,, wait this here IS a news web site.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Triring, How do we know ? Abe never asked.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

"The reason Japan does not agree to this kind oft treaty" doesn't exist.

Really??

Will NK, PRC, Pakistan, Israel, Russia,US, etc. disarm their Nukes just because we asked?

GET REAL!!

tinawatanabe, "Japanese people chose Abe for the job", but does Abe do the job for Japanese people ? Japanese people needs peace, Japanese people want a nuclear free world, are they the jobs that Abe should do ?

Triring, "The reason Japan does not agree to this kind oft treaty" doesn't exist. It is your false reason. Only Abe and his owner don't agree.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The reason Japan does not agree to this kind oft treaty is because the treaty has no force to empower it and countries that are targeted loses any way to retaliate against provocations using those nuclear weapons.

Why would Abe run away from meeting the Nobel Peace representative ?

She chose to visit Japan while Abe was in Europe.

All ICAN does is to prevent Japanese to be trapped into another nuclear disaster, plus to keep Japan in Peace.

Japanese people chose Abe for the job, not the Nobel Peace representative.

Abe has time to travel thousand miles away from home to just shake hands with anyone he can find, why does he have no time to shake the hands that reached to Japan from thousands miles afar?

Considering that Japan doesn't have nuclear weapons, why doesn't she start with the countries that do.

The answer is money. She wants money from Japan. So they can spend donors' money without result like a the UN.

Bingo!

The answer is money. She wants money from Japan. So they can spend donors' money without result like a the UN. I never give money to NGOs and local charity organizations because they spent all the money on administration and only a few money go to peoples who need help. I only donate money to Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Why Japan? It was the only country to be hit with nuclear Weapons.

All about getting rid of the weapons and applying pressure from non-nuclear Countries.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Oh and the russians too

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I’m not sure why they are not going after the Americans and the Chinese first.

Sharma, Northeast Asia has been peaceful for 70 years. Japan is just fine as is. Thanks you for your recommendation, but Japanese will not fight and die for you and your country.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Japan is surrounded by nuclear power countries which can pose danger to its existence at any time .Japan should keep all its options open including acquisition of nuclear deterrence to safeguard its sovereignty.Japan must become a militarily strong country to establish peace in the region.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

it is predicted that 7 nuclear bombs at one time will set off a nuclear winter. so two idiots could effectively wipe out most of the worlds population. everybody should sign and decommission. no point to have them.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

nandakandamanda, Japan doesn't need a bargaining chip. Japan needs to lead, to setup a good example. Japan will be safe only if the world is nuclear free. That should be Japan's eternal goal.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

As a bargaining chip, Akie San. For use in the great bluffing game that the countries around here love.

PS For some reason I wrote DPRK etc., are not third-world countries. Change that to first-world!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

nandakandamanda, If I give you 1000 atomic bombs, would you dare to use them ? Nuclear bombs only useful to scare weak nation such as Japan. Japan has no strategic depth. If nuclear war happens, Japan will disappear in no more than three minutes. Only chance for Japan to possess the weapon is to have a suicidal leader like Kim. Not even Abe would dare to try it, he is just bluffing.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

DPRK are not a third-world country, and they do not ascribe to third-world ideas, as this good lady does. China and Russia are also a little short on idealism.

For this reason Japan would like to keep the bargaining chip, the idea that she could develop nuclear weapons very quickly if ever forced to do so by violent or aggressive neighbours.

Japan would probably sign, but at the same table as DPRK, SK, Taiwan, China and Russia.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Abe is coward, running like a lapdog. He destroyed 70 years Japanese reputation by resisting to sign nuclear disarmament treaty while insisting in cutting of the peace constitution.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Japan is the only non-nuclear weapons state that sits on tons of separated plutonium, which could be used to make nuclear weapons.

if we don't have them, why we have so much plutonium?

also, they exist on USA bases.

we should sign.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Whatever Japan does or doesn't do, it has to clear it with the American overlords first.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

so funny, why not start with the 5 permanent members of security council USA UK RUSSIA FRANCE CHINA then include Israel, Pakistan, India. Yeah, they can't be bullied by a group of fanatics but Japan, of course, the tootless tiger is easy to squash. make yourself useful won't you ICANS?

6 ( +11 / -5 )

It looks like she is working for nuclear armed countries who want to contain Japan.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

We need action and leadership from Japan...Japan can be moral authority on nuclear disarmament, and that can begin with Prime Minister (Shinzo) Abe joining the treaty to prohibit nuclear weapons," she said.

Yeah, and maybe ask Abe to grant foreigners suffrage while you're at it??

Maybe when they start wearing heavy down jackets and build a ski slope in HELL.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

dcog9065, as the only nation suffered from nuclear shock, the world look up to Japan to lead the efforts to denuclearize the earth. Abe changed that perception.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

This suspicious organization never goes after the egregious offenders like NK or Russia, and instead picks on non-nuclear Japan. Beyond a joke

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Abe should get rid of the idea to be a nuclear power.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Considering that Japan doesn't have nuclear weapons, why doesn't she start with the countries that do.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Considering how Abe san secretly wants to build nuclear weapons for Japan, the answer is no.
