Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Friday met with relatives of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s and apologized for the number of times that the minister in charge of the issue has changed.
Last week, Justice Minister Keishu Tanaka, who was the 7th minister to hold the post since the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) came to power in 2009, resigned. In his place, Noda named Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura to handle the abduction issue.
However, Fujimura has yet to schedule a meeting with the abductees' kin who feel that he will be too busy to devote much time to the matter.
A spokesman for the Association of Abductees’ Relatives urged the Japanese government to make some tangible progress before the end of the year. He said the government seems to have lost interest in the plight of the abductees.

Actually the government wishes all the abductees and their relatives would just die, maybe get run over by an epileptic driver drinking the season’s 1st shipment of Beaujolais Nouveau, in Toyota hybrid cars that are due for a recall because of "defective floor mats."
If they were going to DO anything, they would have done it by now.
